Obligation and Bounties

By P-Dub663, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

How would a PC take care of reducing or eliminating their bounty? I have a Mandalorian who fire-bombed a hutt's palace and got a hefty bounty placed on his head. Now this is obviously going to cause bounty hunters to start chasing him. While I don't have a problem tossing bounty hunters into the fray every so often, it's starting to get big enough that Boba Fett might show up.

How do you guys go about reducing or eliminating bounties? Does he just need to kill the Hutt crime lord to make it go away?

I would think....

  1. Pay it off. Or, pay enough to the Boss to make it go away.
  2. Find something the Boss wants more badly than you....and make an arrangement.
  3. Kill the Boss.
  4. Fake your death.
  5. Kill off enough BH's that they stay away from you.
  6. I'd say making your own organization would help shield or reduce that. THey just couldn't get to you, so not as much of a threat.

A variation: Join an organization that shields from threat. Join Black Sun, or get a consistent job with one of the Corporations. For that matter the Rebellion could potentially help too.

If it's a hutt that's targeted you, killing him might cause more problems than it solves. You need to know if he's part of a kajidic, and how they're going to respond to killing him. Unless he's a real black sheep or not part of a kajidic, killing him might result in your bounty going up significantly.

You could still kill him, but you need to make absolutely sure nobody suspects you did it, and his family might continue on his obligations and grudges after his death.

Why'd you/he firebomb the palace? Was it just business for someone else, or was it personal? That changes the tenor of any interactions between the PC's and the Hutt.

Zima the Hutt hired the Rodian bounty hunter Greema to track down the Jedi Master Woo'Shan who was the NPC that taught the force sensitives in the party. The party did not know the location of their wayward master, nor were they able to track down Greema. They waited until Zima the Hutt left his palace before breaking in through the kitchen's loading dock. After scouring the palace and getting the information they needed, the party decided to leave a gas leak in the kitchen which was adjacent to the main hall. After rigging up a timer the team left and the resulting explosion caused a fireball to blow out through the back doors of the palace. The stone building is fine, just really really scorched.

Lucky for Zima, one of his guards (unknown to the PCs) was able to regain consciousness just in time to see the party leaving in a stolen speeder.
