4 ship rebel

By thestggrwng, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have been messing with a 4 ship rebel list.

Started with two rookie X-wings, a dorsal turret y and a Lothal rebel. It was okay but it was having problems hitting 3 agility ships like protectorates. So I switched it up and I have been having a lot of fun running this

Lothal Rebel

-FCS, Chopper

Rookie X-wing

-Targeting astromech, integrated Astromech

Jess Pava

-R4-D6, Integrated Astro

Captain Rex.

Yes, I am using targeting astro because frankly against high agility lists, you are K-turning a lot. This helps make the shots count drastically.

It's an interesting lists. Your biggest problem is flying them in any kind of formation. Unless you are planning not to. A tie and the X's have different dials, plus moving the ghost in conjunction takes practice.

Your opponent will probably go for rex first because of the ability, that's why he's primarily used with Biggs, but I don't see where you have the points to turn your rookie into Biggs.

Overall, I like the idea and I'm curious to see how it plays on the table versus on paper.

I think adding the shuttle and a turret to the Ghost will serve you better than the x-wing. Make the most of your biggest offensive weapon.

Tried that. I want as many targets as possible to make target priority a consideration. Rex serves as a psuedo Biggs and as the least damaging ship in the list if you are taking shots at him in the back, that means the rest of my list is punching you hard up close.

Formation is the key. set up ghost apart from the rest. He needs to be at a different angle than the rest of the list to make his K turn easy

In my experience with the Ghost, flying it without a rear arc or turret makes it a sitting duck, especially vs. high agility ships that boost/barrel roll.

Even if you don't land shots, at least you can token strip with the Ghost, hit hard with Jess, and hit again at the end of the round with the turret.

But I respect that you're attempting something different. I wish you luck with the approach. It may turn out well if you can spread their focus.

As long as you're having fun. Not having a turret can hurt like others have pointed out because if you're not getting shots with the ghost then its just a sitting duck. But play it right and sounds like itd b fun

Im having fun with a 4 ship rebel list as well. Ahsoka, biggs, thane and rex. Been going good so far but tomorrow will be a real test for it

May have to steal the targeting astro idea for my rookies.....

Targeting astromech is great. There's almost never a game in which I don't K turn. But at 2 points it's over costed. I wish FFG set it to 1 point.

That said, I agree that the TA is great for always getting modded shots

I play a large percentage of my games with at least 2 rookies and in a lot of those games the rookies end up being the last ships on the board so the ability to get a TL on a K would be very handy!

Ever since switching to the targeting astromechs, I have found they are getting a lot more damage through because they have to keep turning around so much. I think they should be 1 point as well, but I will take it.

So played this in a store championship. Went 3-1 and lost to another 4 ship rebel list that met me at an angle that I was off so I was not able to focus fire like I needed to. Then took it to league last night and beat a grassholes attani list, jan Rey list, and a Bossk Assaj list. It bleeds MOV like no other but has so much sustained firepower. I think this is my store championship list going forward. Really strong. One thing I have noticed is people attack different things first. there is not really a good target priority in the list.

If the Targeting Astromech was 1 point it would replace R2 Astromech on the 4 x blue sq T-70 list which would be pretty powerful.

What about rage, recruit Ezra in place of the xwing and then add hera to the vcx?

just went 6-0 at a store championship.

I've considered it and I'm trying that next. But the rookie has been great every game
