Glue to mend broken stands

By Flying Dutchie, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hi all,

In a swing I put on my bathrobe and knocked a TIE fighter & bomber off of my display shelf! I downed them quicker than any X-wing could've. Unfortunately for both of them the attachment where the ship meets the see-through stand broke off. Now I don't want to mess it up by using the wrong glue, I was thinking basic model building glue like this one:

Anyone know of a reason not to use this?

not sure on plastic glue.

gives you a perfect excuse to magnetise though :)

You can use pretty much any glue. I'd recommend standard super glue though as it dries quickly. Just make sure the peg is lined up and the ship is facing forwards first - attaching it to another peg and a stand can help ensure proper alignment.

Yup, super glue (cyanoacrylate) should do the trick.

You must have swung really hard, or your robe must be made of chain mail!

Thanks guys and Force Majeure, my chainmail robe is unfortunately undergoing repairs itself at the armourer since I took an arrow to the knee. The ships fell from about 1,70m high ('bout 5 1/2 feet for the US people amongst us).

I've tried using that glue and it didn't work on base pegs. @Barry Harker swears by EMA Plastic Weld which I've not tried.

But the best solution to broken pegs is a drill the right size, and some super glue. You'll get a much, much stronger joint.

Thanks space invader! Will get some super glue instead.

Btw guys, I bought some super glue (seconde lijm in Dutch) at the local hobby shop and it worked perfectly!
