Would be nice if we got different skirmish scenarios for the same skirmish map with different products.

By Ken on Cape, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I picked up the Training Ground Skirmish map. I also have the Stormtrooper pack that uses that same map for the included skirmish missions.

They are the same missions in both packs, the map and the mini pack. I think FFG would get more longevity out of there products if the had different missions.

The point of the printed skirmish maps is so that you can get them without needing to buy the pack they came with or needing any of the tiles. That way you can just buy the core set, a printed map, and then any other expansions you want without being obligated to also make sure you have all the necessary pieces for the map.

Implementing different scenarios would rather defeat the point of it.

TBH, the fancy skirmish maps are really for the hardcore skirmish types that don't mind paying $25 every few months for the newest official map. They are a nice product but just so specific and really short lived for the price. I would rather have some kind of basic mat that can then have a thin printed cover that can some how adhere to the mat so you can have one mat and many skirmish maps for it.

I would love to get some extra mileage out of existing skirmish maps, but that's all maps; not just the ones that have official playmats. Online supplements would be good... or a skirmish generator.

The best fix I thought of, would be rather than include all that crap and printed credits etc in the blister or clamshell, PRINT the MAP on a small sized poster sheet folded in half or in quarters with the mission scenario printed on the paper.

This does 2 things ;

1. Anyone, anywhere, can instantly get into Imperial Assault Skirmish. Sales Skyrocket, IA communities are brimming over with people and the game becomes ridiculously popular. You sell all your other figures and sets because there are 10x the number of people playing the game. You may sell a few less mouse pads though.

2. You don't have to worry about keeping track of cards or whatever, everything you need is on the map. If you lose it, or the dog eats it, you buy that expansion set again, you're only out $10-15, not $100 for a core set. You don't have to build puzzles if you don't want to.

I had a similar thought last night. I admit I posted before looking through my scenario cards. There are a ton of ally/villain packs I don't have, and I still have a huge number of scenarios. They reminded me a bit of HeroClix...but without the paper maps. An easier way to pick up and play skirmish would be very nice.
