Kylo Rens new Tie Fighter

My thoughts are that this isn't Kylo's specific fighter but just the F/O TIE Interceptor that he happens to pilot, may even have his own squadron, the Knights of Ren.

In the standard fashion: 3 / 3 / 3 / 1
Interceptor dial with added sloops and the tech slot.

May even have a system slot.
Title will give it something unique

Funnily enough, me and a friend were joking that it could even be shipped with a four bank template or the "come about" template which is essentially two hard one speed turns pushed together.

Pilot wise:
Inductee: PS1
Omega Squadron with EPT: PS4
Knight of Ren with EPT: PS5
Kylo Ren with EPT: PS6 (same ability though)
New Unique Snowflake with EPT: PS8

Except unlike the FO which has the same basic design as a normal TIE this has a radically different body design then the Interceptor, one much closer to ships in the Advanced line which were designed to house strong enough shields to keep their pilots alive.

Fair comment but I think that game play trumps thematic here. Whilst I appreciate it should have two shields, it essentially makes it vastly superior to the F/O, S/F, Advanced and Interceptor if it was 3/3/3/2, almost making it a Defender, which given the timeline, would be expected. . i mean, the Defender is canon right?

Reason I don't think it would have 2 shield tokens is because the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor canonically had shields, yet game play wise FFG left them off the title, in my opinion, to keep them from over shadowing over ships. They will do the same here, to not invalidate half the Imperial Fleet.

If the New Order was an entirely separate faction, I would easily assume it would have 3/3/3/2 stat line.

I'm pretty sure that the reason they did that with the Royal Guard title is that they figured the shield mod would represent that and didn't want to make the Interceptor be able to have two shields.

It should be better than those but also more expensive. I don't think that they want to do another 2.0 of existing ships if they can help it, that's part of why I gave it the E-Wing's statline.

Kylo Ren, son of Han Solo (PS9), grandson of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (PS9), is PS6 in a fighter?

I didn't think that was how bloodlines worked in star wars.

Don't forget nephew of Luke skywalker (PS8)

That's what he has for the super shuttle, and let's be honest there is no way Captain Hot Topic put any effort in to improving his natural skill.

All that may be true but he also lost to a untrained, emotional wreck of a protagionist and has never been seen or heard of flying a fighter before.

He could be the son of Han but who said that Han ever let him fly the Falcon, or taught him anything before he was sent off to Jedi Camp, got emotional and slaughtered a bunch of younglings?

The films have established that Han was an accomplished pilot, right from the get go, they have done nothing to suggest the same for Kylo besides his obsession with Vader, which may or may not have led him to train as a pilot.

Additionally, FFG got the U wing wrong (no side gunner, no K2SO), TIE Striker not having bombs as per the wiki and Poe's pilot skill wrong due to limiting material being available to them at the time of creating the ships, could be the same here.

I think this is likely. Luke probably trained Kylo from a very young age and Kylo seems pretty obsessed with Vader. Luke doesn't have the fancy jedi academy so personal stories and field trips were likely his only teaching tool. This would have left little time for combat flight training as the jedi way is to avoid combat. It wouldn't surprise me if kylo has native talent but no real formal training.

So PS6 is above average for natural talent.

Yeah, our perception on pilot skill is kinda tilted because everyone loves using the hero class aces but PS4 is a skilled veteran and PS6 is the best of the best like the Emperor's personal guard, anything above that is legendary then borderline mythic levels of skill.

One problem I have with this game, WAY too many ps9's. A ps9 should be a unicorn, best of the best, there should be like 6 in the whole game. Why do most xpacs have to have at least one pilot over ps7? It's just bonkers.

Why is Black squadron, Darth Vader's personal tie squad, PS4? From they way they tore apart Red Squadron over yavin, they need to be at LEAST PS5, and probably PS7 like mauler Mithal.

agreed, PS7/8 should be the standard "elite aces" with the legendary pilots like Wedge, Han, Soontir, Poe, Vader, Fett being the PS9's.

I would take the rest of the PS9's and drop them down to 8's easily, and most of the 8's down to 7's. make those PS9's feel exclusive and special.

oh, and Sabine should always be PS10 because "Sabine-effect"

Yeah, originally it looked like they were just going to have two per faction and for years it was just Vader, Fel, Han and Wedge but they botched the first Scum ps9 both in who it was and that it was on a DOA ship and overcompensated on Dengar, who is admittedly a good choice for a 9 because lorewise piloting his stand out skill among the bounty hunters due to his history as a swoop racer and it's like the one area where he had Boba beat. Then they decided Scum needed their own Fel and we got Fenn who really should have been an 8... Then we got new Poe which is not an unreasonable choice given that he made a better showing on screen than Wedge ever did.... Then Quickdraw to even things out again and because his ability makes it possible to shoot in the movement phase which they figured would be broken as hell if he was any lower skill even though there is no reason a filler name ace should be that high. Of those Talonbane, Fenn and Quickdraw really don't belong.

No they are right where they should be, 4 is elite vets. Plus Backstabber, Dark Curse and I think Mithal were all part of that squadron at Yavin in addition to any number of the many TIE aces which have no established place in the lore, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that they were part of Vader's retinue.

I honestly think it will end up 2, 3, 3, 2 with a title that ups the attack stat to 3 or leaves it at 2 with some potential benefit. Similar to the way the tie sf is.

think the ship as a whole will be an upgraded tie advanced as opposed to an upgraded interceptor.

They WERE black squadron. Which is why Black squadron should be a higher PS.

Nah because those guys all have their own higher PS and special skills that make them stand out.

Just remember guys, the other ships had the correct faction symbols on their bases.

Sabine's TIE/fo Interceptor, coming soon to a FLGS near you!

FO TIE Interceptor and/or Avenger!? Where do I sign? Lol

This is what happens when a TIE Phantom mates with a TIE Interceptor...

That being said, I like the look.

It's got a good bit of Advanced in there too.

I'd say it's got the Interceptor's wings, the Phantom's cockpit, and the Advanced's body.

Has there been any confirmation as to the size of the craft? Is it for sure advanced sized or more like the aggressor (scum) gunship?

This is all great, just need a new title for the Interceptor. If she's got two shields, OK, as long as the dial is great; it should have at least what the Protectorate has. I'm thinking Kylo might not be a high PS, but he needs a wicked pilot ability...the Mouse will demand it for DVD and toy sales ?

We know what Kylo's pilot ability is. People complained about it, but it isnt exactly burning down the meta.
