Kylo Rens new Tie Fighter

Ive been thinking about this leaked vessel. Meditating with the dark side to uncover this new tool of destruction and hate. By what manner will this profaned blade of contempt bring ruin and terror to the galaxy? Is it a herald, an iron horseman of the apocalypse? By this engine of destruction will the lie of peace be eternally shattered? I loom deeper into the dark side, and stats for a new expansion unfold before mine eyes.

Four unique pilots, we have enough spam fodder. We need a scalpel, an ace platform that combine legendary PS9 imperial skill, with enough durability to survive red dice creep and the slots to keep its maneuvers and fire relevant. We need the sportscar of TIE fighters.

Stats

My Vision

3/2/3/3

Focus, Target Lock, Boost, Barrel roll.

Elite and tech slots.

A title that gives it some unique shenanigan for several points. Will be an Auto include for competitive lists, but will be flyable and practice for discount casual builds. Cheaper characters will bring Lightweight frame, top two will always want autothrusters.

Pilots skill 3, 5, 6 (kylo) , 8.

The PS 8 will be a powerful self sufficient ability that leaves the elite slot open for Veteran Instincts in the competitive build.

Kylo Ren will used as a support vessel in new ace lists with his condition card, but the made up PS8 will be the all star. The two cheaper guys will include a fun reference to a new book/comic and be good but only effective in casual games. Someone will try to fly three in a list, and discover its sub optimal if not terrible. We will be able to afford all four in a list but they will be trash without the upgrades to kit them out to optimized effectiveness.

Title should be compatable with low PS Tie Intercepters.

PS3 unique should have an ability to promote blocking. (built in Intel Agent?)

I love speculating what these ships will look like on the table - and I always start with the chassis.
I'm thinking a 3-4 dice primary (probably 3), the Interceptor dial, and the hull/shield of a Tie/SF.

If it's a small base ship...
3 or 4 / 2 / 3 / 3
Actions: Focus; Evade ; Barrel Roll
Target lock? Evade would be too good with my proposed ideas, below...

Title:
Kylo's Interceptor
Tie Avenger Only. Title.

Your action bar gains the [ boost ] symbol. You may not equip a [modification] upgrade that is 3 points or more.
2 points

Light-weight Frame or Autothrusters become the go-to Modifications.

Pilots:
Standard Imperial PS 9 Ace, with an ability that mimics Fel's - stress-carnivore . Perhaps adding a [boom] result if you have a stress token.
Kylo Ren will be a pilot. Guess what he'll do...
Knight of Ren - PS 6 with an EPT

Other ideas:
Glaive Squadron Training
Imperial only.

Once per round, when attacking or defending, if you have two stress tokens or less, you may remove one stress token to turn a blank result to a [boom] or a [evade] result.
You may not equip this card if you are pilot skill six or less.

I'm quite pleased. Help me flesh this monster out before it arrives and brings the Empire back into the fold.

Edit: So it could be a large base ship...

Sticking with my original chassis:
3 or 4 / 2 / 3 / 3
Actions: Focus; Evade; Barrel Roll

Its dial would look like the YT-1300, maybe even have a 2- or 3- S-loop.
I imagine its upgrade slots will be similar to the Tie/SF.
Crew slot would be overkill, right?

Anything, anything, anything that assists my beloved Interceptors I'm all in on; sign me up! Let's go emo!!

Surprise! It's a First Order interceptor. I wonder what will be next? The bomber? It would be nice to get an actually new ship rather than something with subtle power creep over an old design.

If it does come out, I think it might have 3H, 1S, 3ATT, 3AGI and a dial identical to the Interceptor but with 1-segnors loops.

1 S-loops could be really cool actually...

It's interesting in that it's new (aside from Tomax shenanigans), but I don't see any significant use case for it over the existing 2-sloops.

I'd almost want it to be a Tallon, but there's kind of an interesting split on those with imperials having none of them but lots of sloops. A future rebel ship could absolutely be given a 1-T if they wanted to push its maneuvering to the limit (might have to be via upgrade or pilot skill though? Something like being able to turn all hard turns to Tallons... or hell, take a stress to "Tallon" on any white/green maneuver).

Are you sure? Because it has the rebel/resistance logo on the base....

what are you seeing?

I too have scried upon the black and sheening glass of the future. My vision was obscure. I saw not that baleful lambency of the Light, nor the welling shadow of the Dark, but a muted, putrid umber colour ... like Scum on a pond that is mouldering. At first I feared, then flashed with anger: what was this murk that imposed itself upon the ancient, treasured feud of Light and Dark? As I focused my hate upon this sight, it shattered in wreaths of flame. The vistas of the manifold future were laid bare to me again.

I saw a craft, sleek in figure and blazing at its aft with a radiance of dread impulse. Three tongues of liquid green it spat from its maw; thrice it evaded the lancing fires of its enemies; and thrice it withstood their blows: once with a crackling of shield aegis. I heard the voice of that great weaver of the threads of Darkness, resounding from the chasm of his star-weapon as he fell and the Dark flowed through him: 'You will train a warrior to avenge my demise; he will slay the regicides and the scum. In him must combine the fanatic abandon of my servant, Jax, and the fell tenacity of the leader of Omega Squadron. You will call him Rho Leader. His power of terror shall permit his foes no focus when attacking him or defending against his attacks. He shall attain the ninth level of piloting skill, and make use of the forbidden technology to supplement his elite talent. He will hunt down and eliminate this Last of the Jedi.'

I shuddered with the bliss and creeping terror of the Dark I adore.

A mock up for a promotional shot. It's obviously a first order design.

The rebel symbol is on the base, frosted white while the other parts are clear. It is upside down relative to that picture, so that the "top" of the symbol is pointed kinda to 5 o,clock. It's hard to make out at first because the photo is so fuzzy, but once you see it you can't miss it.

Almost certainly. But I couldn't help making fun of Internet people who take the slightest irregularity and spin vast conspiracies out of them.

Just remember guys, the other ships had the correct faction symbols on their bases.

Well first of all, giving that thing anything less than ag3 would be idiotic, it's obviously a space superiority fighter/interceptor with a lower case 'i'. Secondly it's almost definitely going to be small based, unless they plan on it being like the Scum Aggressor. Lastly... I'm really glad they are at least trying to show some originality now after the disappointment of TFA's lazy repaints totally original ships do not steal!

Anyway on to predictions!

Upgrades.. well obviously Tech and there is a good chance for systems and likely a missile because they love sticking those on basically everything but other then that I think they'll keep its bar pretty light.

I think you likely nailed the actions unless they feel that this thing absolutely needs an Evade.

The dial.. this is actually what I came up with when think about how they could theoretically do an Avenger and make it stand out functionally from all the other fast murdery TIEs.

S1: Hard Left, Hard Right

S2: Hard Left, Left Bank, Straight, Right Bank, Hard Right

S3: Talon Roll Left, Hard Left, Left Bank, Straight, Right Bank, Hard Right, Talon Roll Right

S4: Straight

S5: Straight, K-turn

I doubt it will actually look like that but it would get the idea across of a ship so fast it has trouble going slow which as anyone who played the TIE Fighter games knows describes the Avenger pretty well, but I think it could work here instead as I don't see them making both.

Oh my god, "Baleful Lambency" is now how I will forever more describe the light XD

Just fantastic flavor and atmosphere, bravo.

whoops forgot the statline.. lets mix things up a bit

3 / 3 / 2 / 3

and if you think it needs a title.. maybe something that gives it a free evade when it repositions?

This is close enough design wise and having it as a new trilogy ship gives it more options through the tech slot, I'm kinda fine getting this instead providing they don't botch it on playstyle.

I don't think it will have 6 HP in total. But IMO that was also wrong on the TIE /SF, so...

I'd say it has a 3/2 or 2/3, putting it between the normal TIE /FO and the rare TIE /SF, if this ship really were to take the role as the new TIE interceptor. Possibly even 3/1 like the /FO, to keep it like the old versions. But gameplay reasons call for at least a 3/2. **** you, power creep!

Role wise it seems closer to the Advanced and TAP, a sophisticated ship reserved for VIPs of great skill like Vader and the inquisitors, in this case likely the Knights of Ren. However it's incorporated elements of the Interceptor for increased speed and firepower so there should be some similarities.

My thoughts are that this isn't Kylo's specific fighter but just the F/O TIE Interceptor that he happens to pilot, may even have his own squadron, the Knights of Ren.

In the standard fashion: 3 / 3 / 3 / 1
Interceptor dial with added sloops and the tech slot.

May even have a system slot.
Title will give it something unique

Funnily enough, me and a friend were joking that it could even be shipped with a four bank template or the "come about" template which is essentially two hard one speed turns pushed together.

Pilot wise:
Inductee: PS1
Omega Squadron with EPT: PS4
Knight of Ren with EPT: PS5
Kylo Ren with EPT: PS6 (same ability though)
New Unique Snowflake with EPT: PS8

My thoughts exactly

You are not asking the real question, which is when Sabine will be able to fly it?

Spoiler:

Kylo is minding his own business aboard his own personal Raider, looking out the viewport as multiple squadrons of gunboats drop out of hyper space.

Jar Jar arrives, escorted by numerous henchman and a mandalorian with their head covered by a black cloth.

Kylo, turns removing the cloth to reveal an aged Sabine.

"Run out of ships to fly did we?"

Kylo then proceeds to shank her good and proper with his sabre. The buzzing red glow a stark contrast against the blackened room.

As her body falls lifelessly to the ground, Kylo nods towards one of the guards.

Guard 1: " You have done your Empire a great service Senator Binks .. but the Empire does not reward traitors!"

Jar Jar is gun butted into the back of the head and rendered unconscious as the guards form a lethal circle around and proceed to unleash the entire hatred of the star wars universe into him via their modified blasters.

Kylo, who returns looking out of the viewport window, arms folded behind his back authoritatively.

"Now we have that mess out of the way ..."

Roll opening credits for The Last Jedi.
