If you have the room, just the table is a bit small you could lay a 4 foot by 4 foot board made from plywood or something to get more space for playing.
Noob question about play area size.
Battlefleet Gothic used Centimeters. ::wistful sigh::

Metric is good for sciemcy stuff, but not great for day to day use.
Thats a nice subjective opinion, but virtually the entire world disagrees with you.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_system
Only the USA, Liberia and Myanmar haven't officially adopted the metric system (although Liberia and Myanmar have recently changed laws to move in that direction) and the rest of the worlds population find it just fine for day to day use.
And just to be completely unique, the USA doesn't even use the recognized international imperial system anyway, it uses the US Customary System.
Got to love a measurement system where a pound of feathers weighs more than an pound of gold, while at the same time an ounce of gold weighs more than an ounce of feathers!

Not a problem at all, outside of USA. There is also the dm, 10cm equals 1dm (decimeter), 10dm equals 1m.
I used to love playing on the floor. Now I never play in the house because there's so many game cafes near me... but it's not super precise. I wouldn't worry about it. 2x2 works fine, just only use four asteroids. Fun fact, I have an official FFG playmat (Starkiller Base) that's literally an inch too long in one direction and a centimeter too long in the other. So I guess FFG doesn't care too much either...

LOL...
I am not to worried about it now. I don't want the play are to freak everyone out. I mentioned standing while playing and my family looked out me like I was crazy. We just aren't table top people, but we will be, oh yes we will be.
