Arc Bomber?

By j_man_04, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was just curious if anyone has tried to make the Arc work as a bomber. I realize it's not the most effective ship with a bomb, but was wondering if it has any chance or would be fun to try out. Here's what I threw together:

(99)

Thane Kyrell (39) - ARC-170
Extra Munitions (2), Sabine Wren (2), R5-P9 (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Sheild Upgrade (4), Conner Net (4)

Biggs Darklighter (34) - X-Wing
R2-F2 (3), Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6), Integrated Astromech (0)

Ahsoka Tano (24) - TIE Fighter
Veteran Instincts (1), Sabine's Masterpiece (1), Captured TIE (1), Jan Ors (2), EMP Device (2)

Ashoka gives Biggs a free R2-F2. After Biggs is shot at, Thane gets a focus or drops a bomb in the middle of combat. Again, just more of a practice on how an Arc could be used.

I doubt it's the most competitive of lists, but bomb and action shenanigans lists are fun to fly. I've seen sabine on the captured tie, and I've built a list with her on a U-wing. But I've never seen her on the Arc before.

Interesting idea with Thane. Could definitely be a fun ship to jam into the middle of formations to mess things up for your opponent. And when he gets through he can still fire from rear arc and drop bombs. I don't think he needs the regen or the shield upgrade however. Those points could be spent somewhere else. BB-8 might be cool to make him more of a blocking menace.

I honestly wouldn't even fly this with Biggs I don't think. You can just send Thane in as a blocker and problem for opponent with lots of options when to drop bombs and snipe with maybe Dash HLC or Miranda TLT.

The regen aspect of Thane was for the post-Biggs part of the matchup. I like the idea BB-8 though. Biggs is there to trigger Thane's ability. Ashoka feeds Biggs actions, and Biggs feeds Thane.

I was also thinking about R7-T1 on Thane. Biggs goes in, gets shot at, and Thane boosts into Range One with a target lock.

I was considering the Arc for two reasons: I've flown it the most, so I have a good sense of how to fly it, and it still has a lot of firepower without the secondaries. The U-wing could be interesting.

The U-wing is fun. Not competitive, I certainly wouldn't fly it in a tournament. But, if you put chopper and Sabine on it, you can potentially do a stop maneuver, do a 180 spin, and drop mines on a target. I've flown that version of the U twice, and got it to work once. It's the funniest thing ever when it works

I have thought about R7-T1 on him too to line up shots. It would also be funny to get to use that for the first shot and then drop a bomb during combat on someone haha.

Also does anyone know if R7-T1 can trigger out of the Arc's rear firing arc?

I wouldn't see why not. You just have to be in their arc, so if they are behind you at range 1-2 then you r7-t1 and may choose to boost or not
