We can clearly see these odd starfighters on the right. What are they, and why aren't they in the game?

They are Sabine's Tie Gunboat. They will be announced at GenCon for the Rebels
I don't know what they are, but they look more like troop transports, or maybe boarding craft, to me.

More shuttles YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! But really I don't think that's what their purpose is. Maybe heavy assault?

Here you go. Also of note, they appear on the card art of Viktor Hel, so that's something.

Yeah I saw that too. Maybe FFG is doing something like they did with Intimidation.

They've been doing that a lot in the early days of X-Wing, yeah. Colour me intrigued.
I'd buy one of these. They look cool. But, I think they're atmospheric craft.

So is the TIE Striker.

Maybe we will have a retrofit title that fills the troop compartment with missle tubes and folks will finally have their gunboat!
What movie is that image from?
I'm all for theory crafting this one.
2 ATK, 2 AGI, 6 HULL, 0 SHIELDS
Forward and Rear firing arcs.
Actions: Focus, TL
Upgrade Bar: 2 crew, 2 missile
Dial: White Stationary, Red Reverse 1-straight, Red Reverse 1-banks. Green 1-straight, Green 1-banks, green 2-straight, white 2-banks and 2-turns. White 3-straight, 3-banks and 3-turns, Red 3-K-turn

It's from Rebels. There is a scene where the ship fires missiles with passengers/crew on board. It can have both upgrade slots.

But, the Striker can fly in space. I'm not sure if these can or not. They're in the hanger of a ship that can, obviously, but they could just be there for delivery somewhere.

False.
The TIE Striker is
optimized
for atmospheric flight, though this does not mean it is
only
capable of atmospheric flight...

Databank calls it a "repuslorlift vehicle" so probably not capable of space flight. I don't have a problem with atmospheric vehicles in the game, as long as their size, speed and maneuverability are appropriate for the scale and mechanics of the game. Put this thing in a wave with Rogue Squadron T-47's, and Cloud Car for Scum.

Police ships?? Kewl, I can switch from PEW PEW to. . .
BEEEEE BOOOOO BEEEEE BOOOOO. . . .
Lol, that is one ugly ship.

Ugly duckling. From a thematic perspective it's a great transition between Republic and Imperial design philosophy. The next step is probably Rogue One's TIE Reaper, which I am also looking forward to in a future wave.

Oh, I'm all for atmospheric craft as well but I don't think FFG will introduce ships that aren't capable of space flight. Also, I'd add the T-16 Skyhopper to your list. It could be factionless.
Edited by weisguy119Could use the assault shuttle variant to (Okay not really, empire has 3 shuttle craft now, but hey, any excuse to bring thrawn into the game. Although he might be better riding in on an epic expansion).
If we're looking for relatively obscure Imperial ships I'd recommend the V Wing. It actually was in a movie (Ep 3) and was known to have been in Imperial service for half a decade before being replaced by the TIE Fighter.

Edited by Joe CensoredThere's also the scanner variant of the Gozanti, not to mention that other troop carrier from Rogue One.
Me, I just want a Vigil.
I actually think it's really cool looking! Also carries ordnance.
Sadly, it fills the same niche as the Gunboat. I don't want it if it means no Gunboat.

Oh no this thing definitely does not fulfill the same role as the gunboat.

Not in my eyes either, but in FFG's eyes it's "a small-base ordnance carrier with a good amount of maneuverability and maybe a crew slot." That's probably pretty similar to how they'd see a Gunboat, as "a small-base Lambda Shuttle with ordnance"
Nah, FFG knows the ranges of capabilities of ships pretty well. Though made by the same company, the Gunboat is a small, one-seater ship which should have the cannon and double missile, and is notoriously tough. If the Patrol ship can even be in X-Wing proper it'd probably just be one missile and one crew. Probably an aux arc. Shouldn't have a hell of a lot of shields if any.
