thanks for the commentary Gink. A few things for the post game interview:

1) I hadn't tabled Ben, I'd not played him in the Swiss. I had tabled my round six and seven opponents though.

2) the Irn Bru corvette moved first in round five as I was going to ram it otherwise with the MC-80 who only had two health left. I'd rather Ben rolled dice to kill me with the chance it wouldn't work (like it didn't) than I do the job for him. I also wanted to get the corvette away so I wouldn't get tabled.

3) moving the MC-80 in when I had two remaining activations was deliberate. I can't quite remember why but I think it was to bring in the threat and focus Ben on that which could tank for a bit rather than him killing more of my activations by bombing the reinforcement corvettes.

overall I got out deployed and was struggling from there. I had to commit everything while Ben was still putting out squadrons. That meant I had to spread my options and hope wherever rhymer targeted, some of my stuff would get away and then return on my terms. As soon as Ben killed a corvette and I had killed a gozanti though I was down on points so had to commit everything rather than playing for a narrow draw like I would in the swiss.

In terms of strategy for the fleet, I was drunk when I came up with it on Wednesday night last week. The thought was to get maximum efficiency out of Akbar.

what ended up happening was I was able to out activate people quite well and between a swarm of flotilla killing corvettes which had a lot of poke out of them against proper ships too and a truely horrific MC-80 which could tank well and deliver an enormous amount of damage in one shot, there was an Achilles heel for pretty much everyone. The highlight was a corvette B Akbar slashing and killing Janina's light on one side and bright hope with Madine on it on the other side and then flying off into the sun.

I didn't have to compete with the squadron game and could win it by killing everything else with my highly expensidible corvettes and my absolute git of a battleship. Ramming flotillas was good too
