Two new cores is absolutely redundant. One of each is heaps better. You can get new dice by winning regional events...

Something that doesn't seem to have been mentioned much: you don't need the actual cards to use them anywhere except in an actual competition. If you want to use R2D2, just print out a copy. If you start going to tournaments, then you'll need the real cards.

Many of the squadron builders (see the sticky post) have printable lists with all of the cards on.

As someone who's never won a regional, I can say it's not very simple at all. But it seems the most satisfying way to get them...
