Custom ID Tokens

By WigTii, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Has anyone made their own custom ID tokens?

I'm thinking I want to make my own tokens for existing ship titles plus a few more for names we don't have. I would like to use the name of the ship on the token, but I'm not sure if I should try to modify tokens we already have or make something from scratch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I see that. :D

Symbols makes more sense than words when using those particular tokens. How did you create them?

Adobe Illustrator. Had to take some careful token measurements to establish a template and then went crazy.

I don't have that program, but I have something similar. I'll have to play with it and see what I can come up with.

Those are awesome, suer glad you included Wraith.

I've also made some . I painted the FFG tokens white, then used decal paper to print the ship silhouettes. I've printed the titles in Aurebesh to apply them to tokens, but I haven't gotten around to it. After applying the decal, I just use a gloss coat to seal it.

In the first post of that thread, I have a few examples of ones where I painted fleet markings. Close up they're not great, but at table distance they're pretty good.

Aurebesh...that's a thematic touch I can appreciate.

I had not thought of decal paper. I was thinking of using sticker paper. I might have to try each to see which I like better.

I finally found some time to work on my ID Tokens. This is what I've done so far on my generic photoshop program. I've done a test print at token size and it's readable. Curious what you guys think. I was playing around with various ship names to see how long names would fit. So far everything works.

They look good.

The only issue I ever have with them is wether they're going to be laminated and glued to existing tokens, or just cardboard, to give them the width they need...

I have a collection in a 3D Print file waiting for capital to produce... Essentially what you have there, only with raised title names for easy paint.

Sticker paper over existing tokens is going to be my first try. Making my own cardboard tokens is plan B.

I'm going to make tokens for all the titled ships and unique squadrons first. Then I will add an additional 37 ship and 44 squadron names from Canon and Legends for the Alliance. I'm still researching the Imperial additions.

Haven't tried sticker paper before. Definitely throw some pics up onto the forums once you've made one, curious to see how it turns out.

Looks good.

Really like the idea for tokens for unique squadrons. They're such a pain to keep track of.

I just printed mine on cardstock and pasted them to extra ID tokens I had laying around from X-Wing. They work well enough, though since the adhesive isn't the same as printing on the cardboard directly they can ride up a little on the token with repeated use.

I'm not rich enough to afford better solutions. If it were up to me, I'd find a custom service for this and print on the cardboard with that, then research die cutting.
