Defensive Dice bonus?

By HiveMind2, in WFRP Rules Questions

Is there no way to build your defense up? I think that there should be a scale like +1 def dice for every agillity level over four if you only wear the lightest armor and have no shield? Something along those lines maybe? Anyone agree or made up something they like that is similar?

Nope. Even for new players it's VERY hard to miss. I have made some house rules that create a more balanced success rate.

Summary of the hit percentage issue.

Fixing the high hit percentage while maintaining variety:

1. You subtract 1 success for every point your enemy has in melee/archery/athletics/whateverskilltheGMthinksfits

2. Defence adds black dice as normal

3. Default difficulty for an attack is average (2d).

4. You need at least one hammer to use a sigmars comet as a success.

We discussed it today a lot. There are 2 solutions from now :

1) by RAW with opposed checks : alternate solution proposed p.58 of the rule book = making every combat with OPPOSED CHECK. You compare the active characteristic to the opposed characteristic (AGI ranged or STR in melee) and it gives from 0d to 4d of challenge. That's what I use when I feel combat a bit broken.

2) Gallow's houserule : who proposed a system where you auto suppress a certain number of successes depending on your stats.

Thnks for the input. Hahah "RAW" there is a term I haven't missed. Reminds me why I quit 40k. I see what you mean. I wonder if after more expansions come out, will they modify the rules or just leave them?

So Will- Do you think that left to their own devices, Wardancers are fine the way they are or too squishy? What are your thoughts on that specific character type? I really like it overall.

I won't be able to answer to you because my players have only played losers-only careers. I haven't yet took a good look on these uber-carriers, with iron breaker and swordmaster, from Adventurer's Toolkit.

I probably will house-rule them to be advanced careers, and limit the actions cards with their Traits to characters who have been through this career once.

But I will have a look on this one because this Stance-dance seems really interest "ruling-geek willmanx" :)

Please check my simple reflexion and rule limitation in this thread . I think I've got something quite cool to solve that problem.

(Moreover could we please guys moderate us about this subject and talk about it on less threads at the same time ?)
