Hi. I'm coming back to x-wing and I'm starting from the scratch again. I would like to build a good core sett. I'm looking to get between 1-2 big ships and enough small ships to make it fun and balanced between the 3 factions (no epic size) I have bought 1 x Standard core sett and 1 x Force awakens start sett. Beside this what would you recommend? I'm not really on a budget. I just don't wanna buy everything since it would be too overwhelming ?
A good core set build
Heroes of the Resistance
Imperial Veterans
Most Wanted & Jumpmaster
These expansions should give you good enough builds for all three factions.

+1
Anything that has multiple ships and comes in a box is the best deal. Most Wanted is the best. You can actually test out all the ships in there, it comes with everything except the plastic ship for the HWK, Firespray, 2 Y-Wings, and 2 Z-95s. Your opponent probably won't mind you putting the wrong ship or a proxy on there.
Heroes of the Resistance is awesome. Great deal, especially since you have the Force Awakens starter!
Imperial Veterans and Imperial Aces are also great deals!
And yeah, the Jumpmaster is good. It's expensive, but it is the best ship in the game... also maybe get the TIE fighter and TIE/FO expansions to go with your core sets!
That should definitely be enough to get you started! May the Force be with you!
To get the most from Most Wanted, buy a Firespray, Y-Wing, and HWK-290 expansion.
First off thanks for the replies. Nice to get some simple advices once in a while ???
What are probably currently considered the least competitive of the bunch are the Lambda, TIE Interceptor and B-wing. If your're just flying with friends/family these are still great ships to invest in. The Star Viper has a fix coming (just announced) and the Slave One is, um... let's just say a few uber talented people have been able to work magic with it at tournament level (it's my personal favorite Scum ship to fly though). If you're not looking to conquer the world and earn acrylics & other swag, then all of these ships are good to get. So it really depends on how you plan to play.
I'm a proponent of buying ships in pairs--at least the small base ships. You can't really go wrong with what you have here. A few ships you might want to add would be the VCX "Ghost,"--great crew upgrades here--Protectorate "Fang" StarFighter and the TIE Striker. And the K-wing if you can find it. I don't have one myself, but many consider it the best Rebel ship at the moment.
Welcome back to the game.
While not quite competitive, the U Wing is a very fun ship and comes with some excellent cards you'll want for your other ships.
I'd also get Imperial Aces, Rebel Aces, and Heroes of the Resistance. Darth Vader in the Tie Advance is also a lot of fun. TIE/SF is almost a must have.
A couple Z-95's and either regular TIE's or TIE/FO
T-65 Expansion just for Wedge pilot.

Only buy if you're going to proxy the TIE/x1 title and Advanced Targeting Computer. A must on Vader. Looks like you're flying casual so proxying shouldn't be a problem. You can only get these cards with the Raider although you can usually pick them up paired on eBay. Also on generics TIE/x1 plus Accuracy Corrector is good; AC is in the StarViper.

You'll have to proxy the Royal Guard TIE title which is in Imperial Aces only. The StarViper has the essential Autothrusters.
Is TIE Striker on your list? This is an amazing ship. For me it has replaced Interceptors. Plus comes with Lightweight Frame which is good on the TIE/SF (unless you proxy).
I proxy the cards quite a bit but love to have the cards which is why I mention proxying - it's not for everyone and only casual play of course!
