Of course, it'd be even better if the long-awaited FAQ finally appeared before next weekend.

Given how long it's been, that seems unlikely, at best gui%C3%B1o.gif

Sometimes, when facing the unfathomable horrors beyond our understanding, you just need to hope against all odds that the planets eventually align in your favor. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'm pretty sure that when the stars are aligned we get devoured, not an FAQ.

Next, I'm assuming that the -1 penalty to all skill checks leveled by Chaugnar Faugn for being in the vicinity of an Elder Sign stacks? For instance, if both the Unvisited Isle and The Unnamable have elder sign tokens, you'd take a -2 to all skill checks?

Yes.

I'd like confirmation on this. Chaugnar Faugn doesn't say EACH Elder Sign, it says AN Elder Sign. That's an all-or-none statement: if there is any number of Elder Signs present (in range of the Investigator), then -1. If there isn't, no penalty.

Could be now that I think about it. Sadly, if true, makes one of wussiest and most pathetic Slumber abilities even wussier and more pathetic sad.gif .

Just one more wussier and pathetic step and we're down to Avi-level, bottom of the rabbit-hole gran_risa.gif .

::Laughter:: now you're just trying to provoke a response. Y'know Dam, I'm not the one who needs *four* investigators in my games. I only play three. ::Cough cough:: not that I'm implying anything ::cough cough:: WEEEEAK ::cough cough:: oh did you hear something? I didn't. It must have been the wind ;')

What combo are you normally using anyways? You don't log your games, so nobody knows gui%C3%B1o.gif .

::Laughter:: I normally play three random investigators against a random AO, although I'll throw back Shudde, or Atlach (I really don't know why I discard Shudde, it's not that I think it so difficult, I just hate losing locations), or an AO I consider too easy. I usually don't play with the Kingsport board anymore. I play with most of the other cards. I'm thinking about using a modified deck along the lines of my forum post from a week or two ago.

For the OW encounter: "You've completed your mission but now must leave" or whatever, you can't seal that gate, according to the FAQ draft.

One more thing: Do you still get the gate trophy for automatically closing the gate through the encounter? Even if the investigator fails the check and is LiTaS? The encounter reads "you automatically close the gate". We'd like to resume the game on Saturday, but I'm still a bit unsure of how this card should be interpreted.

I know, it's annoying isn't it? I'd say that (as a general rule, based on what I've seen): if "you close the gate," versus, "the gate is closed," then you get the gate trophy. However, if you didn't close the gate exactly during the Arkham Encounters phase wherein you're supposed to make a Fight or Lore check (even if you somehow skip the check), you cannot spend clues to seal the gate.

If an example comes up that contradicts these statements, I'll discard or modify the (personal) ruling.

Errr what's the text on the science building encounter?

Are you being rhetorical? I don't remember any particular Science Building encounter.

Never mind, it specifically says not to take the trophies.

"You find a student pounding on a strange device that he has hooked up to massive machinery. He states that it is a dimensional beam machine. If you offer to help him, make a Lore (-2) check. If you pass, beams shoot out in all directions, disrupting the gates open throughout the board. Roll a die for each open gate one at a time. On a success the gate is closed. However, you may not take it as a trophy, but instead return it to the pile of gate markers. If you fail, the machinery overheats and explodes. Roll a die and lose that much Stamina, then move to St. Mary's Hospital."

Well, deducing from the above, one might suppose that if there's no specific mention of not gaining a trophy, a "you close the gate" encounter nets a trophy. Of course, this being an FFG game, one might never know...

But I take it the proto-FAQ didn't have this one clarified - could someone still perhaps ask this to be included, so that when the long-awaited FAQ finally arrives it will be a bit more complete.
