Playing Ciena Ree at x-wing annoying level.

By ovinomanc3r, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Let's say you have Ciena and some 1-hull remaining bombers inside an enemy firing arc.

Your opponent activates and choose to attack squadrons. He forgets Ciena skill and he declares he attacks her. He has just one die so the attack is canceled, he never reachs the step 6 so he cannot choose new target. He probably jump to your neck through the table but who cares?

Is it right? I mean, obviously it is easy to avoid and despite of that I am not going to be that man but it came to my mind and it seems funny to share with you and answer it btw.

Yep.

Don't be that Sheep. (Unless the guy has been an amazing prick to you all game.) :)

Let me get this straight.

You have a ship using AA against a bunch of squads at 1 health and Ciena.

He targets Ciena first thinking who knows what.

That attack is cancelled because obstruction removes a die.

Attack never reaches "Choose new squadron target".

Attack ends after shooting at Ciena as first target.

I'm sure there is some loop hole where you still go to step 6 since you attacked squads but I don't really care to dig. I'm certain this will never come up in a game because most people don't read so deeply into the rules.

1) I'll write it down as another reason to differentiate the two sets of processes as "Salvo" and "Attack". ( sigh )

2) Don't be the d*** who enforces this. It may be a hefty specific corner case of the rules as written... But it makes you a d***.

I am just training to fight Ben :P

Ben ignores obstruction, anyway.

Would that obstructed-to-no-attack trigger counter?

(I think no, but am not sure)
