I have a day off so what should I do? I know paint 6 trays of Reanimates and see if I can squeeze in Ankaur Maro.

Those of you new to rank and file units, its a bit like high school class photos, pretty ones up the front and the rest down the back. Today I'm going to sprint paint by lowering the standard somewhat. As below I've undercoated black but then I'll base coat metallic silver. This speeds things up considerably. Then some bone, blue cloaks and a dash of brown. Washed then based.

An easy project for a single day.

It was a busy day. I ended up live blogging this job on FB but here's the run down of what I did today.

15 minutes later here's the base coat done. hardest part of this was getting cramp in my hand holding the

models.

Now onto the cloth. A slightly smaller brush this time but certainly no detail level nib on this one.

Switching brushes again for this section, this one is wide but thin, just broke this one out of the packet as I do want a bit of control for this next stage.

All the bone done.
I wanted to show you that in my opinion you could probably wash this model and then play. Is it rough, yes but washes forgive all sins.

I decided to add one extra colour for two reasons, the shoulder pauldrons of all my other reanimates have this done and the extra definition is useful when looking at your models from the table top.

Change of brush again, when you gotta wash fast use the right tools.

This basing is a simply three layered approach with dark brown , light brown and sandy baron applied int hat order. Takes about 10 minutes.

Second last post of this live blog. Here's the more or less finished product. i went back over the heads quickly with bone just to bring back the relief from the wash.

And finally a comparison of the 6 trays which took 4 hours to the 4 trays which took me 8 hours. I'm using my old iPhone 4 to take photos so they're not super crisp.
I'm happy with the outcome as these trays will sit behind the better painted ones .

A couple of quick updates.

First of all, here's a step by step shot of a reanimate from my sprint paint session the other day. It's certainly not a pretty figure but I needed to finish 24 figures really quickly. I'll probably go back over that lot as the painting frenzy will die off a bit now. It's going to be a few weeks before anything else gets bought and I now have a playable army which multiple options at 200 pts. That's what you should aim for, a decent amount of figures for all comer type lists, leave the 16 trays of cavalry to those with a bit more cash.

I've also painted Ardus I just need to take some pictures.

The second update is my Ankaur Maro. As my main colour has been blue I couldn't paint him in a similar way to the image on the box. I settled on an eerie green, because reasons. I kind of shrugged at this one and threw the following paints at it.

I based with the Castellan Green followed by the Biel-Tan Green wash. After it had dried I dry brushed the whole bone surfboard with Knarloc Green. From there I reach waaaaayyyyy back into my paints box and dry brushed the raised energy strands with the striking Scorpion followed by the bilious green. Once the greens were done I went back over all the bone with Rakarth Flesh, did the bindings then washed with a light brown.

For the cloth of Ankaur Maro I followed the same blending pattern as I did for my infantry command. I find I struggle with blending but I think it just takes practice, especially big cloth areas like cloaks.

Oddly when I photographed him I realised I hadn't set him straight when I settled him in to the large base. Well it kind of looks like he's straining to ride a sick barrel at Maui or something. A friend who also plays RWM suggested the Waiqar might see this bone golem as a siege choice in the future.

Two different Games Workshop flocks. The green is the the darker one and then the white is the snow one.

To apply I simply brushed on wood glue, dunked in one flock, then applied more wood glue and dunked in the other flock.

Ok, reinserted most of my images. Got to find the other ones but it's good to get this blog for the most part working again.

Picked up these bad boys today. Two boxes of Latari Elves. This is a likely army build I will put onto the table sometime soon.

I'm planning to do these in autumn colours so I bought some flock and flowers to suit this theme. Elves and flowers go together right?

Gotta get mine today, likely won't build em yet, as mould lines. But slow shamble until their infantry command shows.

Yes that'd be a good contrast. A warm base for the cooler colours of the model.
