Brand new to xwing

By Gorestar, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey everyone im new to the community i picked up a starting force of imperial and rebel for my self and a roommate. So far i have the following.

Force awakens core set

imperial aces

slave 1

1 tie sf blister pack

For the rebels i have:

yt2400

b wing

head hunter

T65 x wing blister pack

My room mate and i have been playing a few games and are starting to make 100 point lists. So far ive got this as a 100 point list for the imperium id love any feed back on it or how you would run what forces i have for either imperium or the rebel scum. Thanks so much in advance! This community seems awesome so far.

100 point imperium list

1x Zeta ace- shield upgrade

1x backdraft tie sf fighter-Fire control system, Ion pulse missle

1xKath scarlet firespray31-Lone wolf, Proximity mine, Counter measures.

is this complete rubbish or am i kind of on the right track?

If you do not have a specific strategy with Lone wolf or are very good at judging distances forget it. The Hull upgrade on Zeta leader and Counter measures on Kath Scarlet is a waste of points. Fire control on "backdraft" or "quickdraw is allways great. Suggestion for a 100 point imperium list.

Kath Scarlet, Veteran Instinct - 39

Quickdraw, Special Ops, Fire control system - 31

2 Epsilon TIE/fo (2*15) - 30

Here is two Pilot skill 9 good damage ´dealers and two PS 1 cheap ships. Same PS is great. Because then you get to decide, which to move first and then you can avoid bumping your own ships.

Suggestion for a 100 point rebel list. Dash Rendar is your heavy damagedealer and can can attack 360 degree with the Heavy laser because of Outrider title and ignores rocks in the activation fase. The B-wing and T70 are good basic ships, which both have 3 attack dice and a lot of shields/hull.

Dash Rendar, Veteran Instinct, Heavy laser cannon, Outrider, Gunner - 54

B-wing (blue) - 22

T-70 (blue) - 24

Yea im slowly figuring out what is and what is not a waste of points every game i play i learn a little more. Atm im really digging 2 omega aces with kath scarlet. Im looking at getting an epsilon class cruiser because i think its a really awesome looking ship but is that a good direction to go with the forces i already have?

The list im running today at my local shop is as follows?

Kath Scarlet (38)

-stay on target (2)

Zeta Ace (18)

-Veteran Instincts(1)

-Stealth Device (3)

Omega ace (20)

-stealth device(3)

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

From my little experience i feel like this is a descent list that at least stand a chance of winning. That being said ive only won a single game out of the 5 i've played. Thoughts?

Gunner unfortunately does not work in combo with the outrider title, as it prevents you from performing primary weapon attacks.

You are on the right track with your listbuilding. Don't fret it, playing something stupid makes for a good learning experience.

Just for a heads up, If I read that correctly you are trying to use 2x Omega Ace. Unfortunately that pilot is unique and you can only fly one per list. You can use Zeta and Omega aces together though

i did not realize that the omega ace was a unique pilot thanks for pointing that out jswindy.

Black one i was a 40k player for years and years oddly enough what gave me away?

You used "Blister pack" and "imperium", and are a miniatures player.

I'm a fan of the Kath Scarlet list with the triple TIE/fos. All of the ships are super efficient jousters - you can bait with the Firespray, and when they close on her, flank them with the TIEs. TIE/fos are actually pretty good at dealing damage, particularly the aces.

ah that would do it i guess. I Just played this list and got absolutley descimated i was thinking about dropping the episoln squad pilot for 15 points worth of upgrades but im not sure what i would get. Any thoughts or ideas you would not mind sharing?

I would make the following changes:

Kath Scarlet needs a few more upgrades to shine. I would use Heavy Laser Cannon, as well as Mercenary Copilot to allow you to crit.

Since you have the TIE/fo expansion, I'd use the classic Omega Leader with Juke and Comms relay. I'd also include Stealth Device on him.

Finally, We have Omega Ace, with Veteran Instincts, instead of Zeta Ace. Omega's pilot ability is better, and frankly, Veteran Instincts on Zeta doesn't do much, as PS 5 to PS 7 is a negligible difference.

To make room for all of this, we cut the Epsilon pilot.

That leaves you with: https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Galactic Empire&d=v4!s!37:98,23,-1,25,-1:-1:-1:;187:152,153:-1:1:;179:27,-1:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

However, there is a chance that I misread, and you have the Special Forces TIE, not the TIE/fo. In that case, I'd use this: https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Galactic Empire&d=v4!s!39:23,-1,21,-1:-1:-1:;208:98,36,-1,-1:42:1:;183:-1:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

Here, Quickdraw is the main ship, Kath is a flanker.

If you're not too attached to Kath Scarlet, I'd go with this squad: In fact, I think it's your best option: https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Galactic Empire&d=v4!s!208:98,36,-1,-1:42:6:;62:27:5:1:M.2;61::5:1:M.6&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

Now, you have three aces that each can joust like nobody else. Most ships will die quickly in a duel with any of these. Set them up far apart, and wait for the opponent to go for one of them. Then, flank with the other two. I'd set up Quickdraw in the middle so she can best leverage her enhanced firing arc.

Again, if I misread which TIE expansion you have, I'd replace Quickdraw with an Omega Leader build, and add filler ships as needed.

You are on the right track, FCS and Ion is a good call on backdraft. Dont forget his Elite Pilot Talent slot, its very powerful, just 1pt EPTs are worth filling it. Wired gives him defense rerolls on his many red maneuvers, or VI makes him PS9.

Boba is probably the better call for that Kath Build. He can change his bank maneuvers to drop proximites, and dodge arcs.

Use the Epsilon's as blockers. It is an important skill to learn.
