So... How many hhs do you want to get? How many do you think are effective?

While I think a mass of 4 hh is effective, I'm really not sure I want to get more than 1 copy of the hhs and the Quasar.

I'm buying a minimum of two packs, and may pick up one or two more if I turn out to really like them.

Two command cruisers done.

I see the TF upgrade as "swarm" for these ships. So, what I'm buying depends on presence of a second unique title and how many TF upgrades are included in each set. I will probably go with three sets of HHs if each box has two unique titles and two copies of each TF. That lets me run each unique and up to four ships for whichever TF, with the option of going to six TF ships if needed.

Also, I'm getting three copies of the Quasar...one for each title.

There is a single unique title and 2 copies of each non-unique card.

I think I want 2 packs of each. 4 hammerheads might be fun and I hope 2 quasars and a ton of ties can be a scary sight.

I would be very disappointed if FFG didn't include the Lightmaker as a title upgrade given the role the ship played in Rogue One , and especially as they refer to it in the beginning of the Hammerhead article.

There definitely will not be a lightmaker title included. Maybe we will get one in the future.

A single unique title for a package of two ships is a bit of a rip off, and it would make me a very unhappy customer. I'll make my own Lightmaker or second title card if I need to.

But the cost...

I think Lightmaker isn't there to become available in the next campaign alongside Chimaera.

What I need is ships I can play wide to herd everything towards the battlezone.

Its a toss up between an external racks hammerhead and a CRambo90. Ones considerably cheaper.

I'd even venture to throw Boarding Engineers on the Hammerhead and make it a 41 point ship that can herd and can also cause some hurt on Capital ships if need be.

I can't wait to see Hammerhead lists in droves...I'll roll dual ISD's with gun teams and a 20 point bid....

I'll take that game :-)

So thinking Hammerheads (HH) and I'm trying to figure out the right way to build them. I'm getting 2 packs (and as we don't know what the quads do yet, I'm wondering this in THAT vacuum), which means initially i can field 4 of them. There's a potential of getting 6 of them, but you're getting points crazy and i'm not sure it's worth the effort to do that. In any case, looking at the task forces and all, there seems to be 1-2 builds of flotilla.

Torpedo HH with External Racks (because its only 3 points and i'm not hyper dependant on a crit effect for anything) and some type of boarding team (Cham/engineers) along with the title. 41 base (engineers, add 3 to that for Cham), no title yet.

Scout HH with some sort of turbolaser upgrade (IMO, DTT, Slaved, or TRC to keep them cheap 6-8 points). Maaaaaaaaybe Spinal, but i'm very cheap, and maaaaaaaaaybe a boarding team (engineers actually makes sense for my below proposal). 46-48 depending on your turbolaser choice, add 2 for engineers.

My theory/proposal here is that you're going to want to combine the two together to get good mileage out of them all the whole game. Let's say you take 2 and 2. Turn 2 when you begin firing, you use TFOrgana to tap your Torpedo ships to let your red dice dependant Scouts get good damage from their dice, and then turn 3/4 (when you're close) you tap it on the Scouts to let the Torpedos get good damage from their black dice. You then ram whatever ship you're wrecking shields on fast to let your engineers start triggering sooner. You're doing plinky dice rolls (3 dice-ish per front shot) to just waste their tokens and not give them the ability to mitigate substantial amounts of damage from them. Again, and then you ram them. If you get 4 damage on a VSD, that's 4 rams from your hammerheads to kill it. It's gonna take a lot of practice and proper usage, but i think with work these can get really deadly and fun.

I know there's been some discussion on the number of the task force titles included in this set, that it will undoubtedly have 2 of each. I'm wondering about the "External Racks", do we think we will get one or two in the set?

I count 12 cards called out assuming that face down card with the two icons is an extra Boarding Engineer, that leaves 2 more. An extra External Rack and extra Quad Battery? Would they make us buy 4 sets to outfit half of them with those cards?

I've been thinking Gunnery Team here. Otherwise, why not Salvation or a TRC-90?

But with GT, you can throw those 3-5 dice (depending on upgrade and command) twice, so you're getting way more value out of the base frame. No other ship quite as cheap as the HH can take a Gunnery Team, and doubly so for ships with red dice to throw.

But GT is 7 points. I'm already putting a crazy amount of points into this ship that doesn't like living, why throw 7 more on top of it? If you TRC, i wouldn't GT, i wouldn't with Slaved Turrets, and I wouldn't with DTTs. You CAN, but it's already almost the cost of a CR90 with less shields and worse defense tokens. A Nebulon wants to live longer, but these just want to keep firing damage into things. If you DO go GT, i'd throw spinals on it. But that's 16 points for those 2 upgrades plue the base 41, so 57 points. I can get the same thing (without GT) on a basic Escort Nebulon. Plus i don't really think you're gonna have 2 ships in GT range for long, i'm not really a fan of it here.

But you can shoot at 2 targets out the rear with 1 red. Think of the possibilities.

How'd something get in my rear when i keep ramming him and Cham-ming him? I'm making that a thing, the ram and cham, where end of the round you ram a guy and then Cham Syndulla shows up and futzes with everything you didn't want futzed with.

It jumps over you. A small, speed 3 ship should be able to clear you. And then you have all your hammerheads with red dice in the rear spamming CF to kill it.

I was about to post a snarky comment about it not having shields and it dying or whatever, but as i live in an Imperial heavy meta, that's weirdly not a terrible plan. If i can ram them turn X, disgorge boarding troopers turn X+1, and then jump them that turn to fire out my butt turn X+2, that's really not a BAD plan, amusingly enough. And because it's red dice, it doesn't even matter how much their VSD/ISD moves. I should be able to harass them and all well enough. Hmmm, i may have to look into this plan. Also amusingly, this combos well with both Leia and the Nebulons she's gonna want, too.

Sounds like a Leia Neb/Hammerhead SA line running around at speed 3 lol

Throw in a StM Pelta and bam, so much regeneration. Also, StM Pelta with Task Force Antilles is gonna be AMAZING.

StM! Peltas are already amazing. Been having so much fun with one recently. So much synergy with TFA though.
