I'm a little surprised that this took a page and a half to be remembered. I'm the only one crazy enough to run double ISDs as a matter of routine, and there's only one other similar list (H1/LMC80, and occasionally some AF pairs) but there are a fair number of single Large lists, so I foresee most of those currently empty officer slots in those (and some of mine) cycling over to support officer (especially since Liaisons are the only other choice for Imperials). All those lists are used to the Large being focused or ignored, so this is par for the course.

I definitely don't think this is a bad card by any means. Definitely niche, and pretty reliant on first/last to be used, but those are nothing new.

On the contrary, I think support officer is a solid card. It allows you ability to adjust not normally available to large ships, which may be life and death. Yeah you could 'plan better', but not really given the lag on these decisions. You can only account for about 1/3rd of the variables in planning. Your opponents actual own and dice, now those can get in your hair.

Yes, you CAN take a 6 point officer who lets you choose a command every turn. But he also sits in the wullf yularen/intel officer/walex blissex/damage control officer slot. And THAT'S the fun part. Sometimes i play games in our meta where i'm not facing black dice crits, and DCO is useless. Sometimes i shut down Demolisher. Sometimes i need walex to bring back a brace, sometimes a redirect. Its all relative and you won't know what you need until you play. For 5 points thrown onto a hammerhead to potentially alter an ISD for 3 turns? Heck yeah i'll take him.

What I dislike most about the card is that's is when you reveal a command, not after maneuver. So I guess I'll have to get a feel for the survivability of the hammerhead, but I don't imagine it'll want to be at close range of yvaris/mc30/MC80/ISD/VSD .... You get the picture... Just even more incentive to go high activation high bid msu with it, something the game probably doesn't need at this stage...

it could stand a Rebel version of it, considering most of what i see in my meta is Imp swarm with Raiders and Gladiators and all.

It's a one off calm down my man

It's a one off whose effect lasts for 3 rounds. Half the game.

That's what you see from me with my tournament fleet but not much of that from everyone else ;).

There's jokes about copycats showing up, but I'm not going to be mean haha.

There are counters to the card, but the counters all bring in opportunity cost.

Tarkin/Liasons just ignores this

Support Officer ignores this

All of the 6 point, change to X command crew ignore this

Leia crew helps deal with this

But every single one is a crew, the already super useful slot on most designs. So I like the bit of chess to fleet building this adds.
