I lost the vast majority of my dials.

If he goes to higher level events everyone will be happy to supply him with loaners. The x-wing community is that kind of great. I bet you can go to nationals with just the entry fee and your list printouts and people would still find enough tournament legal stuff for you to play in the event. I still would not try this on purpose ;-)

Now FFG stepping in and handing out a bunch of dials for a small fee would be naturally even better, but it is an unlikely scenario and just buying the awesome cog-o-two dials would make his whole collection playable again. :)

Well honestly, you just need dials, the ships, bases and cards, and pilot cards. Pennys can be focus, dimes evades, quarters shields, nickels stress.;)

Ffg replaced a tie fighter dial for me, free of charge! Great customer service!

I must admit though that I found the lost dial like 3 months later while moving....but now I can run even more tie fighters!

print your own dial faces, then glue on cardboard....use dial up grade..

If you really want to go down the road of getting your hands on official dials, www.kingwoodhobbies.com <http://www.kingwoodhobbies.com/store/p52/X-Wing_Movement_Dials.html> sells individual parts. They sell official ship dials for $3.99. Will still be pricey to replace, but perhaps you can buy them as needed for tourneys, and use the app for friendly games.

That really sucks

I had a somewhat similar thing happen to me a few years ago - most of my cards were in a bag that was stolen in early 2014. I ended up buying singles, re-buying some ships (that's part of the reason for some of the really silly number of ships I own of earlier waves), and only a few weeks ago bought yet another Y-Wing (my 9th) because I didn't have four R2 Astromechs for Baby Blues any more...

Heidelberger Spiele (FFG's distributor in Switzerland) wasn't particularly helpful back then, but my FLGS gave me some one-time discount out of sympathy with my plight...

I guess dials even suck slightly more than cards, because it's easier to proxy cards than dials :o

But the good news is, it's possible to keep playing after things like this. I wish you all the best for your quest for recovering enough dials for playable squads!

I put the ticket into FFG, lets see what happens. The goods news is that theres a lot of ships that i really just dont fly anymore anyways, so if i need to rebuy dials, i'll only need to rebuy a relatively small amount of dials just to get back on my feet so to speak.

I also happen to have a bunch of dials I can give if you pay shipping. A freind gives me his card board because he just collects the ships.

My friends and I turned a Scyk into a SellSword mini for the Xia board game, so I have an extra Scyk dial. Yours if you want it.

Well, the good news is that you don't need dials quite as much as before the rules change. In the old days, if a ship didn't have a dial set (or had an improper dial set), your opponent just chose a maneuver and would quickly fly you off the board. Now, your ship does an obligatory 2-White forward. So, even without dials, your small ships can still get about 14 rounds of play in before they fly off the board (if you go diagonally, more if the ship has Barrel Roll), they'll just have to fly straight through the map.

That's not correct. The 2 white straight is only for 'red while stressed' illegal maneuvers. For an incorrect dial it's 'do the maneuver if normally legal for that ship' and if not normally legal you hand it over to your opponent still.

Really? I thought the "hand your opponent the dial" situations had all been supplanted by the 2-Forward resolution.

If Nigel is right, sorry OP you're worse off than I thought :(

Yeah directly from the FAQ:

Assigning Incorrect Ship Dials
If a player assigns the wrong ship dial to his ship (for example, assigning
a B-wing dial to an X-wing), when he reveals the dial he must inform his
opponent of the error. If the revealed maneuver is a legal maneuver for that
ship (for example, the revealed B-wing dial shows a red [? 4] maneuver, a
maneuver whose bearing and speed also appears on the X-wing ship dial), it is
executed with the proper difficulty of the maneuver (in this example, white). If
the revealed maneuver is not a legal maneuver for that ship (for example, the
B-wing dial shows a red [? 1] maneuver, a maneuver that does not appear
on the X-wing ship dial), the player’s opponent chooses which legal maneuver
from that ship’s actual dial that ship will perform.

Revealing an illegal maneuver because of a Shaken Pilot crit still lets your opponent choose the maneuver.

Well I'll be... I assume this also triggers in the case of no dial being set to the ship or an ambiguous dial being set (ie, it's right between two maneuvers)?

For the ambiguous dial the opponent chooses which of the two. The "no dial being set" isn't explicitly covered but it's fairly apparent that if it somehow happens it falls under "incorrect dial" since "none" isn't right.

FFG gave me a response! Not going to C+P the whole thing, but here's the gist of what they said:

'We only normally replace things that were missing from packs, but we're going to try to make an exception. We can't replace it all, but we're going to send something to help you out and get you going again.'

A few hours later, i received a notification from Asmodee that they shipped something to me.

I dunno what's in it, but regardless, FFG, if you're reading this, i want to say that i'm eternally grateful, and you've made a loyal-till-death customer out of me, if i wasn't already! A lot of other companies wouldn't even bother, and i thought you wouldn't either at first, but i stand corrected.

Easily the best customer service I have ever seen.

Yeah, seriously! I mean, i lost my dials. That's my mess-up, and that's on me. FFG has absolutely no responsibility to take care of that, yet they have done what they could anyways. They went the extra mile for me. That deserves kudos.

Good job, FFG. I'm sure it's nice to hear praise for a change. :)

Told you :-p

This is outstanding news buddy. Keep us updated on what your still missing.

Good on you, and good on FFG. Hopefully it's enough to get you back into the pilot seat.

The shipment arrived today!

They replaced the following:

2x A-Wing

2x B-Wing

1x T-70 X-Wing

2x Y-Wing(i was only missing one, haha)

2x Z-95 Headhunter

1x Kihraxz

1x HWK-290

1x Firespray-31

3x TIE Fighter

2x TIE/FO

2x TIE Defender

Like they said, it's not everything, but it's a lot of stuff! I fly T-70s and TIE Defenders regularly, so those are important, and i needed the rest for a HOTAC i'm trying to run, so no matter what this is a huge improvement!

I am still missing the following:

2x TIE Bomber
1x TIE/FO Fighter
2x TIE/SF FIghter
1x TIE Striker
1x TIE Phantom
1x TIE Adv. Prototype
1x G1A Starfighter
1x M3-A Interceptor
3x Z-95 Headhunter
1x E-Wing
4x T-70 X-Wing
1x U-Wing
2x X-Wing
1x YT-1300

Some things, like the SFs, Striker, TAP, and 1 or 2 more T-70 dials i definitely need to replace quickly, as i regularly fly those ships. However, the rest i rarely fly if ever, and thus are low priority. Others i have dials for, like the X-Wing which i have 2 dials for that survived the Dialing, and it's not like i'm looking to fly lots of X-Wings any time soon anyways.

FFG best company all years every year.

I think I might have an extra bomber and T-70 dial for each I will look through my stuff this weekend. Also for non torny play you could buy the new FFG dial covers and print out the dials from paper. That would totally work for friendly games.

Do you live in SoCal? I have quite a collection and mod ships, and play a version WITHOUT using dials. Yes I have virgin dials doing nothing but sitting in a ziplock bag, in a case, in a closet. I will never use them.

message me if interested....
