I've had some limited success with Rook... It's a one trick pony but hey, it's something your opponent typically doesn't see. It's an alpha strike list, but it comes in waves.
- Prototype Pilot: Refit, Autothrusters (17)
- Gold Sqdn: Proton Torp, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips (24)
- Gold Sqdn: Proton Torp, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips (24)
- Rook: Rey, Fire Control, Adv Proton Torp, Guidance Chips (35)
I went with the horribly over priced advanced proton torpedo because I couldn't time my approach quite right with Rook due to lack of experience with large bases. With Rey though, I could do a full stop, let a torpedo fly and still score abnormally high results.
The prototype is to scream in - but turn away - don't just dive bomb the enemy formation, that won't go well. He needs only be in range 3 of the target before the other fighters arrive. If you can score a block, even better, but my goal is not to just throw 17 points away for a gimmick.
The Gold Sqdn are precision strikes, pick up target locks via the A-Wing's range.
