Next rebel purchase: wave 4, 5 or 6?

By Tiberius the Killer, in Star Wars: Armada

It's that exciting time again, a new month. That means I can now spend my budgeted money on new plastic toy spaceships!

I have one of everything in the first 3 waves, (two transports) and the rebel squadrons 2 pack.

So I may end up getting more than one, but I just want to know the pros and cons that people see. Thanks!

Can't really comment on Rebels 6 yet. That leaves the Liberty and the Pelta. And my response to that is: it really depends on what you want to do with your fleet.

If you're running a big squadron ball, you'll probably want the Pelta. With Fighter Coordination Teams and Flight Officers it's a great platform for moving slower Rebel squadrons into position to hold off enemy squads or attack enemy ships. That said, it has somwhat flimsy hull and no defensive retrofit, so you want the squadrons to take the brunt of the attack whenever and wherever possible.

The Liberty is like a scavenger predator: not your best option for front line tank, but it is perfectly suited for finishing off a wounded combat ship or a non-combat ship trying to escape. The real trick is making sure you never get flanked, especially if you're going second.

I love using the Liberty as an opposing flanker, under Madine.

Cross your own fleet I'm the middle of turn 4 and It cleans up.

The Pelta is an enticing Target, that can draw an enemy ship in, but has better upgrades.

Tough call.

It can be fun to combine a Home One and a MC80 Star Cruiser with Quad Turbolaser Cannons and SW-7. But do you like to play big ships with lesser activations?

You can combine a Pelta with other small-based ships and flotillas and spam activations under the command of Mon Mothma. (But then buy another MC30 as well!) Or use it together with an AFII and Yavaris to boost your B-wings.

Good possibilities to make more use of your squadrons will give you Fighter Pack II and/or Corellian Conflict. I never will fly without at least 1 VCX-100 since I was tabled, because I had no chance to manipulate objective tokens and no means to stop my opponent to do so. (So bad idea to bring TIE Bombers only.)

Or you ask yourself what kind of Star Wars do you like best: The films of the Original Trilogy with its massive space battle at the end of "Return of the Jedi"? Then go for the Liberty. Or do you count the days till the next seasen of Star Wars Rebels is on air? Then go for the Ghost and the Phoenix Home.

It depends... on you!

If your a rebels player (and I think you are because you have Rebel Fighters II and a second transport), get an MC-80 Liberty, because it's an MC-80 Liberty.

You don't already have 1 of everything, so for you anything you dont have will be a new and fun experience. What would you rather command around the battlefield, a Pelta, or the Liberty?

The Liberty offers raw offensive power to the rebel fleet while the pelta is an amazing support ship (speed 3 b wings are terrifying via all fighters follow me). It all really depends on what you feel your fleet needs.

Buy Liberty. If for nothing else then because of Madine.

It is a tough choice but the best kind of tough choice it sounds like

What I'm thinking:

Commander: madine over sato

Upgrades: I really want a SFO, Spinal Armament and chart officer, but i also love the squadron game and really want FCT and AFFM.

offensive: Liberty, obviously.

support: pelta seems pretty fun.

Epicness: Liberty, but I'm still only on season one of rebels, so that could change.

Pricetag IRL: pelta

Thanks for all you thoughts so far. I am leaning pelta. But it is not certain yet.

As much as I'd want the Pelta for the FCTs...... I find they don't come out of the case without Flight Commander... and that requires an Interdictor. :(

Now my choice just got harder...
