The training exercises are: blaster deflection, eyes of the force, lightsaber sparring, muntuur stones, obstacle course, meditation, emotional weakness, and conflict resolution. (The Jedi trials are part of this list but use the others rather than being a specific exercise.)

Blaster Deflection involves using your saber to in an opposed contest vs (usually) drones that are firing stun bolts.

Eyes of the Force is hide-and-seek using relevant force powers.

Lightsaber Sparring has some variations but is fairly self-evident.

Muntuur Stones is telekinetic practice using Move.

Obstacle Course exercises involve the use of force powers to enhance what would otherwise be straightforward skill checks (and of course includes a reference to a certain scene with Luke and Yoda).

Meditation leans on Seek and Foresee and an analysis of what those reveal.

Conflict Resolution amounts to an emotional counseling session and has the potential to alleviate some conflict earned during the session.

Emotional Weakness: The suggested tests vary by the emotion; while the mentor probably focuses on the character's individual weak point, any of them could be used if they're appropriate.

The real goal with these is to provide little 3-check exercises to hang as a framework for narrative scenes where the mentor is sort of having their moment with a PC developing each other's character or relationship. These scenes can be great for checks related to resolving conflict at the end of a session/adventure, and have the potential to affect the conflict result as well. They aren't meant to be say, as robust as modular encounters. They are just great little bookends for adventures or to bookend missions within a larger adventure, and gives the mentor a purpose for sort of exploring a Jedi candidate's growth and their weaknesses and the path ahead of them.

Ooooh

Was there a way to remove ir change force traditions? Or are you sick with something once you pick it?

So which new talents are Force talents?

  • Aggressive Negotiations (I think this one was confirmed as a Force talent)
  • Improved Sunder
  • Crucial Point
  • Go Without
  • Iron Soul (Mundane talent, I think)
  • Empty Soul (Force talent, I think)
  • Skilled Teacher
  • Wise Warrior
  • Wise Warrior (Improved)

What is the talent "Well Traveled" for Teacher? I can't remember that from any other previous spec.

It is actually a talent the Recruit has. Grants Core Worlds and Outer Rim as career skills.

Aggressive Negotiations, Empty Soul, Meditative Trance, Mind Bleed, Now The Master, and Once A Learner. The others are all non-force.

They're alternate versions of a Mentor from the core book, so if you lose access to the mentor (for whatever reason) then you would no longer have the XP cost reduction benefit and you can pay the listed XP cost to remove the drawback.

Okay, I just finished translating the specs as posted above to my personal tables so I can understand then easier.

Holy cow, the Ascetic has five ranks of Grit?! That's...wow.

Also, I really like the layout of the Teacher (although I personalty would have switched the placement of Well Traveled and Well-Rounded). To get to the super-awesome talents at the end, you have to spend a minimum of 125 xp, and then another 35 to get both Once a Learner and Now the Master. I guess I'm just a fan of a-traditional layouts :) .

Would anyone be willing to give the signature abilities and the Force powers the same treatment? I'd really appreciate it!

There. I'm afraid that my ASCII art skills are a bit rusty but hopefully those are understandable.

That is awesome, much better than I could do!

World it be too much to ask for the xp costs for the powers and their individual upgrades, as well as the Force Rating requirement for the two powers?

Signature ability costs are standard: 30 for the basic, 10 for everything in the first row, 15 for everything in the second.

Let's see if I can edit the powers without making a mess...

Edit: There we go. Numbers and requirements added.

Those are definitely some nice training exercises. However, the training exercise I'm most interested in doesn't seem to be included. Where are the Lightsaber Cadences? :(

Improved Sunder--or Sunder (Improved)--is a terrible name for a talent since there is no base Sunder talent. I have no issue with the mechanics of this talent, but the name doesn't fit well with the norms of the games.

Delayed response, but I'm kind of floored by how amazing Ebb/Flow is for a Soresu Defender. Narratively, it really enhances the "flow like water" feel of defending and using improved deflect/parry to bring down an opponent. Mechanically, you can tack it on to a Defensive Circle action to recover a little strain and spread out automatic threat against adjacent foes, and then trigger Flow right before you switch to the offensive. It also makes it easier to trigger a Dantari Crystal if you've gotten your hands on one of those and really need the recovery.

I'm writing a story, and I've been (at some friends' requests) trying to translate that world to an RPG. I've been using this system for it (because DUH :P ) but I've been having a hard time emulating an iconic power: Balance, the ability to flow with the energy of the universe to act as perfectly as one is capable of being.

The introduction of Ebb/Flow has solved this problem, as it is essentially Balance almost exactly as is :) . I need to get the book and do an in-depth review, maybe tweak it a little, but in essence? One of my biggest problems solved!

That's a lot of Spoiler tags doesn't play well with my phone if it's not in landscape.

The Spray rifle is an interesting weapon, but does the burn count as inside or outside?

  • Aggressive Negotiations : Action - Once per session, perform a hard Lightsaber check to decrease the difficulty of all Negotiation checks for the rest of the encounter by 2, to a minimum of easy/0.
  • Savvy Negotiator ( Improved ): Action Make a hard Negotiation check to convince one bystander per rank of Savvy Negotiator to see one of an opponent's points as maliciously unreasonable. GM fiat applies.
  • Crucial Point : Incidental - Once per session, introduce to negotiations one potential concession that an opponent will do nearly anything to obtain.
  • Sunder ( Improved ): Passive - Each [AD] spent to activate a weapon's Sunder quality damages an item two steps. (Personally, I would have called it Weapon Break.)
  • Go Without : Incidental - Once per session, count as having the right tools for the job when making a skill check.
  • Mind Bleed : Out-of-turn - When attacked, suffer strain no greater than the number of wounds suffered from the attack. If so, the attacker then suffers a number of wounds equal to the strain suffered.
  • Iron Soul : Passive - When carrying items that total 2 encumbrance or less, at the end of each encounter, heal all strain.
  • Empty Soul : Passive - If carrying items that total 2 encumbrance or less, add 1 [LI] and 1 [DA] to Force power checks.
  • Skilled Teacher : Out-of-turn - If an ally in short range has lower ranks in a skill than you, perform a Skilled Teacher incidental to suffer a number of strain no greater than ranks of Skilled Teacher, then add an equal number of [SU] to the ally's next check.
  • Wise Warrior : Incidental - When making a combat check, perform the Wise Warrior incidental: spend 1 Destiny Point to use any characteristic for the check.
  • Wise Warrior ( Improved ): Incidental - When performing Wise Warrior, one ally at short range may use the same characteristic for the next combat check they make before the end of your next turn.
  • Now the Master : This is an incidental(!)
  • Once a Learner : Action

Doesn't say in any rules form. It just does what it does.
