How does Cluster Missile work with Double Edge

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

So as I am looking at Double Edge I had a weird and wonderful thought,

Lets say you bring double edge with the following load out.

Next you take a shot with your cluster missiles, you miss on the first shot would you then be able to shoot with a TLT or a 2nd cluster missile and come back to your 2nd shot on the first missile or would you make a 2nd attack with the first missile then shot with another secondary. (I know you need a 2nd target lock but just roll with this)

Is the ablity canceled by something like Cluster missiles being a 2 attack weapon, or can I put aside my 2nd attack and do another secondary then come back to my 2nd missile.

Imp (38)

Double Edge (38) - TIE Aggressor
Outmaneuver (3), Twin Laser Turret (6), Cluster Missiles (4), Cluster Missiles (4), Lightweight Frame (2)

I have had little sleep so my brain might not be 100%

TLT or clusters would have to miss twice and then you could attack with something else. The flow chart is perfectly clear :P

Why would you want to throw away a 3 dice attack just to do your 2 attack dice primary anyway?

There is already a precedent for this in the FAQ with Cluster Missiles or TLT and Gunner. Basically, Gunner-style effects that trigger when you miss only activate if you miss with BOTH attacks from a multi-attack secondary weapon like Cluster Missiles or TLT. So, Double Edge will do the same thing; his ability will only trigger if you miss with both shots from your Cluster Missile.

Once upon a time a miss by the first attack of the pair could have been considered a "miss" and then triggered things like Gunner. However with the new attack flow chart BOTH attacks are part of the same overall attack and both would need to miss to trigger anything that depends on an attack missing.

I know, it's rather sad. I keeping thinking ooo such and such combo will be great on double Edge, wait nevermind.

I would just treat double edge like a ps5 onyx with the bonus of being able to shoot your primary if your TLTs miss (if you're facing your target of course). Put adapt on there and it's exactly an onyx but with an actual ability that might happen a couple of times. Don't load this ship up. The only good option other than that might be ion with unguided maybe? They need to dodge the ion but then you can shoot them with rockets. Obviously you'd want the ion to hit though.

If you're facing ANY target, actually. Double Edge doesn't have any restriction forcing him to make the extra attack against the same target.

Sorry cubanboy, it would be awesome if that was the case!
