I am a big fan of "Quickdraw" in the Tie/SF but I have not faced a rebel list yet. Was wondering how the Special Ops Training (Add one attack die out the front, or perform extra attack out the back if you did not add the die) if she got inbetween say Biggs and Miranda. If Biggs is in one arc and Miranda is in the other, and they are within range 1 of each other so Biggs Ability works, what attacks would Quickdraw get to use? Would she be allowed to attack out of both arcs?
Tie/SF and Biggs
Assuming you are only using your primary weapon, not a secondary weapon, and all other enemy ships are at Range 1 of Biggs, there are two possibilities:
- Biggs is in your front arc: you must attack Biggs. Since he's in your front arc, you may trigger the title to add a die. If you choose not to add a die, you may then make a rear arc attack against a different ship. Because the extra attack granted by the title is restricted to your rear arc, you don't have to shoot Biggs with that extra attack because you can't.
- Biggs is in your rear arc: you must attack Biggs. Since you are attacking from your rear arc, you can't trigger the title. The title does nothing: you only get one shot and you don't get to add an extra die.
These rules apply both to your regular attacks and to extra attacks triggered by Quickdraw's ability.
Edited by EdgeOfDreamsYou have Biggs in the aft-arc and another target in the front arc but under Bigg's protection: You have to shoot at Biggs with your primary.
The title only kicks in when you attack out of your front arc but it does NOTHING to keep you from attacking out of your rear to begin with. The title gives the TIE/sf three attack variations: Attack with primary out of either arc ignoring the title (why you would I don't know except when you have to), Attack out of front using title for increased damage, or attack out of front and use title to attack out of rear as well. Biggs is saying "SHOOT ME" so your first shot will have to be out of the rear arc which cancels the title's effects.
I'll echo the above posts by adding that the only way around Biggs (assuming he's in range to trigger ability etc) is by firing a weapon which cannot legally target him. An auxiliary arc, mobile arc, special arc, or primary turret all still shoot your primary weapon so Biggs covers all those cases. There's no functional difference between an attack out the front or back, it's still a primary weapon attack. The arcs just give more places a primary weapon attack can be eligible to be fired.
This is why my Quickdraw + Backdraft has swarm tactics on Quickdraw and an OGP w/tractor beam cannon...seriously, this is the ONE reason I even bothered with spending the 1 point on tractor beam cannon (and it paid off in store championships ).
