Other SWG Scum ships now?

By DarthEnderX, in X-Wing

So now that FFG has set the precedent of making the Vaksai a Title for the Kihraxz instead of making thing separate ships because they shared the same basic frame, that basically lowers the potential number of Scum starfighters taken from Star Wars Galaxies from 8 down to a much more manageable 4.

So do you guys think this increases the chances of seeing those other ships?

Do we get the Ixiyen fast attack craft with a Rihkxyrk Title?

Do we get a Kimogila heavy fighter with a Krayt Title that gives it a Turret slot?

And lastly, does the Dunelizard get relegated to just another Scyk Title?

Dunelizard, Kimogila and Krayt are actually different frames. They look kind of similar because they're all made by the same company, but if you look at the underlying statistics they're way too different. The Vaksai is said to be a modified variant of the Kihraxz all the way. Sadly, as much as I like the SWG styles I don't know if anything other than the Krayt really does anything for scum as a faction. I guess the Dunelizard would allow scum another ship for Salvaged Astros if they used that variant.

And if you want proof on "different frames", Krayt and Kimogila are published separately in FFG's RPG lines, whereas the Vaksai is modification package (a very good one) to the Kihraxz.

I'm sure that's the lore explanation, but you can tell from the in-game models that they are clearly the same ship with different nubbins on them.

The Krayt is just a Kimogila with extra fins on the front and a turret in the spot where a turret is clearly meant to be inserted on the Kimogila. The Rihkxyrk is just an Ixien with a couple cow catchers on the front. And the Dunelizard is just a Scyk with an elongated nosecone.

That said, the appearances of Freelance ships in SWG ARE heavily customizable. I mean THIS:

...is actually all the same ship. Even though the top two versions look completely different from the bottom two.

Yeah, but they're not written to be the same ship - which the Vaksai is. It's supposed to be a complete aftermarket rebuild of the Kihraxz (specifically for black sun). The models of the ships look similar, but are intended to fill different roles in the game, and are not treated as the same ship or modified from another ship in the lore - which FFG does loosely have to follow. For instance, while the Kimogila and Krayt stats are somewhat similar (same size, speed, handling, similar number of weapon systems) they also have some very big differences, like in how the Kimogila holds only 1 person ever, but the Krayt has room for a gunner and two prisoners - or the Krayt having much better health and defenses in line with a patrol boat or light freighter while the Kimogila has those more in line with a heavy fighter (though sized like a freighter. Not really sure why, but FFG is sometimes weird with the abstractions in the RPG. For instance, the VCX-100 is the Silhouette class of a Huge Ship as opposed to a Large Ship for... no real good reason.) Ixiyen and Rihkxyrk are similarly same company, but different roles. The Vaksai is just "a huge improvement on the Kihraxz".

That all said, it doesn't make a huge difference - despite XWM's boner for SWG as far as roles go Scum don't really hurt for anything other than a 2 crew carrier (maybe) which isn't the YV especially with the Vaksai and StarViper improvements. There might not be a call for those ships in general. Though I suppose the Dunelizard might fill a space between the Syck and the Kihraxz - not quite as flexible as either but a little more durable and able to use Salvaged Astromechs.
