"Guns for Hire"... Generic Pilots even worse options

PS2 Blue Squadron with Fire Control System OR PS1 Black Sun Enforcer with Autothrusters

They seems pretty balanced against each other to me!

Scum K. Awesome if you load a Hero with upgrades. Per example 3 mods plus EPT plus Ordnance... -5 pts. But if you choose to field a basic Generic... Suboptimal.

Starviper. Guri and Xizor (second place) are on the tables. And they will be. If you gain a 3 pts discount and you can equip 2 Titles but Virago is unique... No point choosing a low PS generic.

IMHO as times goes by X Wing is more a game about Named Heroes skirmishing and dodging rocks. No love towards Squadrons, Ground Targets or...

So I will buy this pack (give me 2) but I encorage you to adapt and improve your X Wing to improve your casual game experience. Aproaching a trio of AT ATs with your Rogue Squadron fixed T 65s is UOUHHHHH... Try it.

As already pointed out I think the generic kihraxz will still do quite well.

And Vaksai works just as well on Generics.

I'm rather less than excited for the generic starviper. We don't know the cost yet, but I can't imgaine I would run a generic PS5 with the title when I could just...run guri with the title instead. And if I'm running cheap generics...I could just run generic protectorates instead. Same PS protectorate + autothrusters is the same cost as a mk2 starviper without em. Spend another point and you get the title as well for less ponits than the starviper with thrusters.

If all starvipers had the system slot, I think the generics would have been a lot better. Limiting it to one unique pilot (or the ps5 generic after this) hurts.

I can definitely see using more than one StarViper in a list. That's one reason you might want a Generic. I agree that the System is pretty cool and does good things, but with the -3 pts, I don't think the Generics are bad options anymore.

I'd argue that the primary beneficiary of the pack are the generic Khiraxz pilots. They look like great value at 20 points with those free upgrades.

Talonbane looks considerably better but is still second fiddle to Fenn Rau.

I plan on flying lots of generics as filler with the new upgrades.

So you got the pilot food chain,

  • Ace-wing
  • cheap generics
  • other named pilots
  • not so cheap generics
  • Horton, Fel's Wrath, and Graz:P

The "why not both" is because I can't take virago on more than one starviper, and that sytem slot makes a HUGE difference. There's a lot less to make it worth taking the viper over a protectorate without the virago title. Or some other ship entirely.

Don't forget Munitions Failsafe for free!

If you consider Epic these generics will be pretty brutal.

Unfortunately I believe (despite the buff given to them both) that the Kihraxz and the Starviper will not see any major role in the meta.

What are you buying 3 G1As for (and I already have 3 :p). You also need 5 TAPs for tracers, 3 shadowcasters for sliced tools (or use dampeners), 5 Z95s and/or defenders for munitions failsafe

My printer works just fine for training matches and for tournaments my community works just fine, so I am fine with not buying a load of crap and still can fly the list just fine. :D
Besides 5 TAP are actually a fun missile list too. :D

Well the Tracers are just afterthoughts anyway. I'm mostly an Imperial player that just happens to have lots of scum because I wanted the upgrade cards and then decided to keep buying more... **** ffg, lol.

I had benched the 5 Cartel Marauders in favor of 5 Zealous Recruits for last year's Regionals. Almost made the second day cut! With all the free upgrades it seems like a really fun (though still easy prey to turrets) list to fly. Looking forward to getting back to "Khiraxzs and Allies" in the Fall!

if Dengar / Tel is still a concern, you can swap out SC for Glitterstim and add Tactical Jammer to Ketsu to ensure that your black sun aces survive long enough to remove Dengar from the board.

I would like to amend the above and replace Concussion Missiles with Cruise Missiles, cheaper and more dice.

They also die a lot easier, have a lot smaller arcs, a lot more predictable firing runs, and no trashmech slot to give them double mods. THey're going to be a strong archetype, but I doubt they'll ascend the same levels as Jumps did.

But unlike the SCURRG they at least have an advantage (they're cheaper! ...also ps 5)
