Gencon 2017 - RPG

By arglor, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Greetings everyone! My wife and I are going to be attending Gencon this year, and we were really excited about playing a Star Wars game (Force and Destiny, Edge of Empire, or even Age of Rebellion.) When the events launched last Sunday, there was a notable lack of new Star Wars games being played. There are so many d20 and d6 games still looking for players, but none from the new systems. The new systems seem to have sold out.

Is there anyone here going that might see themselves running a roleplay heavy game of Star Wars at the convention? I ask because it seems like a major loss, given how strong the system is for manufacturing strong roleplay interactions. It is easily one of my favorite systems now.

So, a couple of solutions:

1.) Show up when the Star Wars games start, it's usually once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If you get there about 10 minutes beforehand and hang out, most of the time there are some no-shows that you can take the place of with generic tickets. It'll take 15-20 minutes a day twice a day until you get in, but it generally works out. You'd be surprised how many people don't show up for early games, especially on saturday and sunday.

2.) Follow me @KRKappel or facebook.com/Keith.Kappel if my voice holds out, I'll run some FFG star wars after my official games end. Though last year (after running 6 four hour long sessions), my voice did NOT hold out. Still, I'll try to do 1 or 2.

Enjoy GenCon! And feel free to come say hello to some of the writers in the RPG room (127 usually) no matter if you get in a game or not!
