Guardian and Vibroknife

By NetCop, in Star Wars: Destiny

When one removes vibroknife die (or other melee die while vibro is in the pool) from guardian ability does that counts as melee and is unblockable or not?

Wording in RR is not consistent about Guardian (p.18) and damage (p.16) but I'm not native english speaker so maybe it is? I would appreciate some explanation here.

When a damage die is removed, the damage loses it's type (ranged or melee) and is just generic damage. Therefore, it is blockable.

Note in the RRG that the Guardian ability is to remove (not resolve) a die.

This isn't quite right. It's not specifically the die removal, it's that damage has no type by default, including most card effects.

As stated on page 18 of the RRG:

Before a character with Guardian activates, its owner may remove one die showing damage (melee or ranged) from their opponent’s dice pool to deal damage equal to the value showing on the die removed to the activating Guardian character.

The die is removed and damage equal to the value of the die removed is dealt to the character with the Guardian keyword (that just activated). The abilities of the Vibroknife are not taken into account here because melee damage is not being dealt.

Yep, die removal first then apply damage equal to the value

Good thread, and good responses. I hadn't thought about the interaction between guardian and vibroknife. Thanks, all!

Thank you for all answers.
