Our 95's shall blot out the stars!

By Admiral Theia, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

This is an idea for when the Leia Commander comes out, to run a Z-95 horde! This may be subject to change once the Hammerhead gets previewed, but I just want to see my opponents face when I set up 18 Z's in front of my fleet!

You should call your list "jungle cruise"

i have heard the usual advice is to put some escorts in to make the z's last longer.

Also that's a lot of expansions...

Why sato with no torpedo effects?

I usually do, but really want to just jam the table with fighters.

Because ships with torp effects are pricey, and thus lower my activation count :-)

Fleet Patrol last night, I took out a bunch of Z-95s for the first time.

I'd be using them in 1s and 2s to bulk up mixed fighter forces, but yesterday was the first time I put 5 Zs with Blount on the table. The rest of their backup was a sole VCX...

I had to remind myself halfway through my games what things represented... When I looked at my dead pile and saw 4 Z-95s, but looked at my Enemy's pile and saw 3 Squadrons.... Because I was generally winning that game...

Yes, 4 Zs had died by turn 3... But in my first game, that was in return for 2 VCXs and an YT-1300.

In my second game, it was in return for Corran, Tycho and a YT-2400...

Used enmasse, they really punch above their weight class (where they an abuse reroll after reroll), and there's enough of them that Sato Ships do their stuff.

So I endorse it.

But I think I'm going to go to 8-10 Zs, and then start adding Ys for my fighter contingent... because I was winning Squadron Fights, and then having to throw single-reds at Corvettes and just not having a good time.

But doesn't that eliminate the main reason to be using Sato.

If you are using Commander Leia and you have a ship with Raymus on it, can you gain the token AND use Leia's ability?

There's been endless debate on this in the Rules Forum since Leia's preview.

There is no solid answer either way at the moment.

I've typically used them in a ball of 5-6 with an x-wing protecting Blount. With double rerolls they hit pretty hard (mathing the rerolls is a bit too tough for my late-school-term brain at the moment), and there seem good odds of getting one.

There really shouldn't be any reason you can't. The debate is mostly about if you can spend the token in conjunction with a Leia command.

A little, but when you give them black dice CR90's also start punching above their weight. Maybe I should name this list "The Little Ships That Could"?

The only issue with using B variants over A's is that you still have to reach medium range with them in order to replace those black dice. Close range is the death range for CR90's where they can't use the redundant evades and have no brace. That gives you a very limited safe operational window for them to fly in.

I speak as someone who loves the CR90B, but I probably would sink the extra points for the A's with Sato. With Mothma? B's all day long. It's just unfortunate you can't have both!!

Most unfortunate. I fancy myself a pretty good flyer of CR90's (I ran a 10 activation list, mostly 90's, in my last CC campaign, with Sato). I'd love to squeeze in Salvation, really, but I'd have to give up two activations to get her, and I'm just not prepared to make that sacrifice.

Sato with 10 90B's sounds like about the most fun you can have.

I Played the 90b swarm with SW7's for a long time way way back in the day. Flying 90B's isn't impossible, just a lot more finesse than A's typically.

So long as you're really doubling down on those last 98 points with Fighters and Upgrades, it could work... But it better get work done, before those SuperGunship ISDs start teaming you off the table in twos....

... But then I guess thats's very Meta and Campaign dependant, too.

It was a blast. Died hard and fast, but let the rest of our fleets come in hard on the Imp flank while they were focusing on me.

Yep CR90bs defiantly need a specific purpose in a fleet ( blocker, Rambot) CR90as are better most of the time.

So you've built a fleet without any ship-based firepower AND without any squadron-based anti-ship? :D

You don't need crits when you're rolling enough red dice :-). The two Pelta's will be on cleanup duty.

Warlords had it at 499 (though that was my 8 activation list). I linked the correct list (though it's missing a Z-95). I have just been all over the place the last couple days. My bad on lousy posting. :-(
