As samurai of Rokugan vied for the coveted right to represent their clans in the upcoming Imperial tournament celebrating rebirth, sinister forces conspired in the shadows, seeking to sow chaos within the Empire...

I welcome any and all of you to join in a social game of L5R Mafia/Werewolf, to soon commence as the Month of the Monkey begins. Rules to follow after the jump.

For those who aren't familiar with Mafia (or Kolat to give it a distinctly Rokugani spin), it's a blind deduction game in which a large number of loyal players must root out and execute a small number of traitors in their midst, while the traitors systematically assassinate those who are best at sniffing them out. The loyal players must convince one another during each "Day" phase, getting a majority to agree on a suspect to execute, hoping that the seemingly-innocent player they chose was, in fact, a member of the infamous sect of infiltrators known as the Kolat. The game is often run PbP on message boards like these, typically with every two days of real time corresponding to a single "Day" of game time to account for differing timezones and work/life schedules. Between each "Day" phase is a brief "Night" phase in which the Kolat players PM each other and the Game Master, deciding which of the innocents they wish to kill that night. The goal for each side is to eliminate the opposing side in this fashion.

If you would like to play, PM me with a name and basic description of the original L5R character you would like to play. For convenience's sake, if he or she belongs to a Great Clan, please adopt the symbol of that clan as your avatar for the duration of the game (or as long as you manage to stay alive). And as a Courtesy, I will gladly allow those of you who still harbor loyalty to the Spider or Mantis to consider those clans canon for the purposes of this game. I'll cap submissions in a week or so, assuming I get a decent number. Until then...
