Hello all, I just played my first store tournament and was destroyed by epalpatine. It was all sort of a blur really since I had never played any serious games before and was just in awe of how good these decks are out there.

My question has to do with palpatine( and maybe sith holocron) .. in the complete massacre I suffered, I noticed after the fact that one of his upgrades was the jet pack ... at the moment I didn't have time to really think about anything .... so is there a way that this could happen? Or did I get whooped and dooped??

What was the other Character, specifically a Yellow Character?

If there was then all good, otherwise not so good. You cannot include Yellow cards without a Yellow Character.

ePalpatine may not have a Jetpack in his deck, nor could he put it out with a Sith Holocron even if it could go in his deck.

ePalpatine may contain only villain/neutral blue and grey cards. Sith Holocron can only be used to place blue abilities.

Yellow card is not allowed in the deck if no yellow character is used.

well, for a game this young the TO should check deck lists/decks for the tournament to ensure that beginners didn't make any big mistakes (like wrong color in the deck, what OP actually describes here). So while it wasn't ok fo rthe ePalp player to have a jetpack, TO should have caught that!

Well i believe the op. I made that exact mistake during my first few games. Not hard for me to imagine some banana kid that bought 2 boxes got 2 Palps throw a deck and start being smarta$$ without even reading the rules correctly.

That or it was straight cheat.

Unless it's a Store Championship or higher, it's very unusual for deck lists to be required. Also, the amount of time that would be required to deck-check everyone is unreasonable, especially for a local event.

That being said, you would hope that one of the ePalp's opponents would have spotted the error and brought it to the attention of the TO.

The majority of errors like this are simply mistakes, rather than premeditated.

Got called in today so I couldn't respond earlier

so, he only had palpatine , no other character. It was a " official" tournament, I'm guessing because we had to fill the card deck infO

His sleeves were blue and maybe that distracted me

i also looked for other cars with fet but none are blue that I could see

unless there is a blue card that looks an awful lot like jet pack I think he did have a wrong card in play

Also, not saying this was on purpose, my eyes could have deceived me , but I can still see his mask on the dice...but anyway , the guy I played was all decked out in Star Wars ... shirts, t shirt said world championship , his deck box had the same logo too...

I had looked up his cards before but that never came up....
