Hyperwave Comm Scanner

Is it just me or does this card seem to have no real apparent use? Any of its benefits are forfeited after the first round, correct?

It gives you a chance to place your ship where you think it may be best and then load up tokens on other ships that are placed.

Or... it gives you a chance to place your ship after everyone else in order to make the best out the set up phase. Especially useful when running a lower PS ship.

The main advantage is going to be when used with other abilities or upgrades that provide synergy. On it's own, it's not overly useful.

I find it handy with Comms Relay Red Ace to pre-load her with an Evade token ...

Hyperwave in epic, on 3 ships including Dormitz for a massive deployment advantage giving you a turn 1 alpha strike with your ENTIRE list:

The change in deployment time can be absolutely huge, Comm Relay can hold the token past round one, but most yeah it's setting up an alpha strike, and if the alpha strike fails it's a bit of a meh upgrade. What did you expect for a point?

well in 100 pts its not worth it.

for epic though, you wreck a huge's front section on turn 1 most of the time.

It absolutely can be worth it for 100 points. Deploying your shole list after your opponent can be a huge advantage. But there are very competitive cards in the slot.

It's possible to use it to build a list that can do 6-8 actions in SETUP, and then be able to repeat those actions in round 1, with none of the tokens being removed until the end of round one.
