Stepping Back from the SOP

By Alekzanter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

While dinking about with different upgrade/pilot cards, I starting thinking a bit "out of the box", and would like some experienced input thrown at the following squadron:

"Quickdraw" (34) w/ SpecOps Training Title (0), Adaptability +1 PS; 0), Lightweight Frame (2), Fire Control System (2), and Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1), and...

2x Zeta Specialists (66) w/ SpecOps Training Title (0), Juke (4), Comm Relay (6), Lightweight Frame (4), Accuracy Corrector (6).

Thanks in advance for your input.

PS: Final Salvo of 6? So, not necessarily competitive.

Final salvos are quite rare and 6 Dice is decent. I love the idea of juke/Comm Relay SF's, but I'd like to try it on Backdraft and Quickdraw with the Hyper wave on an FO. Teroch and Palob will be a pain buy still, its a cool idea.

Symmetry bad!

I need to move a few things around a bit, because "Quickdraw" will be far nastier with Juke and a Comm Relay...

You're better off with Crack Shot over Juke, which is essentially a one-time Crack Shot that can be negated. There's a reason you have LWF on all three - and you'll use that Evade quick. Then, you'll have a useless 2-point EPT and a useless 3-point Tech upgrade.

Crack Shot and Pattern Analyzer. About half the points..

Or Targeting Sychronizer on QD..

Something like an alpha strike:

TIE/SF Fighter: •"Quickdraw" (40)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)
•A Score to Settle (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)

TIE/SF Fighter: Zeta Specialist (30)
Guidance Chips (0)
Special Ops Training (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Homing Missiles (5)

TIE/SF Fighter: Zeta Specialist (30)
Guidance Chips (0)
Special Ops Training (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Homing Missiles (5)

Total: 100/100

It's important to note that you save your Concussion Missiles for after the Zetas have shot their Homing Missiles.

The idea is to never spend the Evade unless absolutely necessary. It's a super interesting build and I'd be interested to see how Alekz finds it.

I goofed a bit; Zeta Specialists don't have EPT...

Omegas it is. And you're correct, hold that Evade as long as possible. I'll be running it in the weeks to come, after the Store Championship.

I get it, just not a fan of 5 points each Zeta to change two evades to focus each round.
And AC just..

Either way, let us know how it goes. Take pics if you can.

People overvalue Juke because they forget it's not backed by Omega Leader the whole time.
