Noob league list??

By drail14me, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I recently posted about my first build using T-65s. I haven't had a chance to play it and it looks like I won't anytime soon. My local players are starting a league with the below rules so it looks like I'll be playing the league for a while.

I am new to the game but have been collecting the miniatures for a while. I wanted to build a squad and play it a while to really learn the game. However, since my local group is going to this league, I'm going to have to build this list and learn with it.

"Each player will choose one named pilot to build their squad around. You have 75 points for your first squad so choose wisely. No one can have the same pilot, including cross faction. Each week your squad maximum points will increase by 25 points. At 150 and 200 points you get to pick 2 new named pilots… all of your squads must include your named pilot choices."

I'd like to play as Rebels and I like the T-65 and Y-Wing. Thinking about trying this list:

Garven Dreis, R2D2, Proton Torps, Shield Upgrade

Gold Sqd Pilot, BTL-A4 Y-Wing, R5-P9, Flexhette Torps, Proton Torps, TLT, and either Shield Upgrade or Guidance Chips.

I picked the droids and shield upgrades to hopefully give me some survivability.

Advice? How would you upgrade each week?

PS...feel free to throw in a good Imp or Scum list you'd use in a league so I can test against.

I'd rather keep the y wing light and squeeze an a wing in like this

Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

R2 Astromech (1)

X-Wing: · Garven Dreis (26)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

A-Wing: Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Push The Limit (3)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Crack Shot (1)

-- TOTAL ------- 75p. --

I like this list. So, you're thinking the addition of the A-Wing outweighs the ability to recover shields?

It's not exactly a competative list but the x and y wing have exactly the same firepower and you have an a wing to fly along side them. Having 3 ships gives you more options and makes your opponent have harder choices .

I do like the X-wing Y-wing combo but that's mostly nostalgic. I'm open for other competitive lists.

I liked your idea of working in the A-Wing but I didn't want to lose the ability to recover shields. I played on Squad Builder and came up with the below list. This list could carry me through the first week of League Play. In the second week, we get another 25 points. I can use them to improve the A-Wing and Y-Wing or add another ship. Thoughts?

X-Wing: Garven Dreis + R2-D2

Y-Wing: Gold Sqd + BTL-A4 Y-Wing + R5-P9 + Twin Laser Turret

A-Wing: Green Sqd + A-Wing Test Pilot + Chardaan Refit + A Score To Settle + Crack Shot

That will work too . Not sure on btl-a4 though but try it out and see how you get on. Ideally you'll want IA on garven too .

I'm not really understanding the real usefulness of the IA Modification. It's a one time use card to remove one damage. It seems the only real use of it is on your last hull hit giving you at least one more turn in exchange for your astromech? I guess though in this case, Garven isn't using the modification and IA is a freebie to might as well use it kind of deal?

0 points for an extra shield you can't go wrong ?

And just note r2 on an x wing is going to make you extremely easy to predict with 4 green moves and 3 of them are 1s

I completely agree. I love the T-65 but it has horrible maneuverability in the game. I wish they would fix it. I've thought of adding EU when I get the next 25 points.

Hey Spamdex! You're A-wing addition was perfect. Won my first match because of that A-Wing. Here's a link. Thanks a bunch!

Awesome . Good work ?
