Breaking The 4th Wall Is Hard To Do

By Celestial Lizards, in X-Wing

Part of the Problem is which Faction would the Republic be aligned with? The Rebel Alliance to Restore the REPUBLIC or the Empire which is what the republic became? and would the CIS be a 4th faction since they are rebelling against Big government, which is the Empire but the Rebels want to restore the "better" big government that they separated from in the first place, (they could maybe go Scum but they aren't really "criminal" either)

Resistance and FO have much clearer boundaries and are easier to align with existing factions which is why in my opinion Prequel era stuff is being slowly phased in from Rebels as early Civil War rather than 2 distinct sub factions

Clarity

I had the TFA box, but had to sell it, because I was serious disturbed to have those ships mixed with my OT collection. And I'm not buying a Sequel Trilogy ship in the future (well, unless Kylo's starfighter proves to be an actual TIE Avenger).

I'm a casual player and like to keep the flavor of the game, above any meta. That means R2D2 will only fly with Luke, for instance.

Yeah, it was a hell of a love story (about a whiny desert boy) set on a backdrop of galactic political intrigue (whereby a incredibly dumb Gungan becomes a senator) delivered with all the subtleness of a plunger ramming merchandise tie-ins up your. . .wallet.

Lets be fair. None of the Star Wars movies have had an original plot.

George Lucas literally wrote Star Wars as a sci-fi dressing up of your classic Fantasy adventure storyline. -Unassuming Youth must learn from the old wise man how to become powerful enough to defeat the evil villain and save the Princess and everybody else from certain destruction-

And the Prequel's basic story line was solid, and IMO actually a little more original than the Original Trilogy in that it added some extra plotlines that gave some depth to the setting. However, it's execution was atrocious. On top of George Lucas favoring spectacle over substance. Instead of trying to at least deliver a solid story, it was more of an opportunity to show off all the fancy CGI toys he'd just invented. Almost like a Portfolio he was attaching to his resume "hey, you making a movie? pay us big $$$ and we can make it look amazing!!!" It was also ruined by George trying to be a film director, when that's not really what he's good at.

For me the games are always the king. I like all things Star Wars and i like some more than others, but all movies and such would be kinda lame if i couldn't immerse myself in that beautiful world through all the games.

As non-StaWa example IMO the new Battlestar Galactica tv series was kinda "meh" but the FFG board game justified its existence.

In X-wing my only concern with era splitting is that it sometimes looks stupid to fly ships from Empire and FO in the same list. And that's why when my stepson took QD/BD/Inquisitor to a regionals tournament i needed to have my TIE Advanced Prototype painted in the color scheme of TIE/sf. I think Decimator will be the next one to be "special forcified".

While I agree with what you are saying and generally try not mix eras as well, that is not what "breaking the forth wall" means. At all. I'm not trying to not pick, but I just couldn't help myself. Breaking the Forth Wall is a term used in theater and film for when a character in a production directly addresses the audience.

Sorry, nit pick over. Carry on.

I can respect your nitpick, thanks for pointing it out.

However please try to refrain from incorrectly spelling your point when you JUST POSTED A LINK ABOUT IT.

If the Empire got stuff like ARCs and Etas and gunships and whatnot, I would love to use them in my narrative X-Wing/Star Wars D&D game as part of the early Empire.
