The range tool's first section

By Metamichael, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Hi,

I have a question about the range tool : does anyone know why the first section is so long ? I think about it since i got the game but I still don't understand why.

It's the same way in basically all other FFG games.

Probably to give range 1 abilities a bit more reach.

And likely make it harder to estimate movement pre measuring

Problem solved.

For what it is worth, range 1 is the same measure as the distance between opposite corners of a tray. I have yet to find that tidbit handy, but someone might.

Well except for in X-Wing.

But for Runewars, range 1 is 1.25 of a tray, all the other ranges equal one tray's length.

Armada doesn't use equidistant ranges either.

Range one is the same length as the March 1 template. The extra length accounts for the guides at either end of the template.

While it is against the rules, you could technically use the movement templates as a shorter ruler to measure range. Want to check to see if something is at range 1-2? Use the 2 march template.
