Akodo Gunso

Akodo Gunso

Bushi.
Pride. (Afer this character wins a conflict, honor it. After this character loses a conflict, dishonor it.)

Reaction: After this character enters play from a province - refill that province faceup.

Really solid. I think generally you wouldn't put too much extra fate on him, so his Pride keyword won't make that much of a difference statistically. But efficient stats and more province flipping is really nice to have, and if he gets honored with 0 fate you're still putting that honor pressure on your opponent.

Looks like Lion are going to swarm?

The designers really pinpoint everything in a very flavorful way. Great job FFG. Guy enters the game, arranges for his replcement, goes up or down depending on the outcome of the battle. like a real gunso. great.

They've been saying that since the Clans were previewed a month ago, now. Yup.

So I guess Lion is the next two weeks comms, or was that already confirmed/denied?

Yup, that was confirmed on the Facebook live stream.

Well... he will gain / cost you an honor on the way out.

I think you'd want at least one fate on him so you can use his Honored stats for a turn then send him to his destiny.

My personal inclination is to invest 1 Fate on him; 3F for 4/3 seems pretty nice. But he'll provide value even if you just kamikaze him out.

I'm honestly not in love with the pride keyword. Glad only the Lion have to deal with it. Its gonna be real funny watching them lose a conflict and then dishonor themselves. What do they plan on doing against political decks, not show up to defend?

Right, that's my point about the honor pressure on the opponent.

I think Lion will really want to use their flips as much as possible. I envision paying printed for the 1 and 2 drops for the most part. Eventually you'll have a nice build up of fate to pay extra for your Lion's Pride Brawlers and expensive guys that your extra flips have found you. Lion uniques will end up with really good staying power with the fate build up and extra flips to find the duplicates.

Akodo Gunso doing a Fire challenge to set up an easy Noble Sacrifice could end up being a fairly typical play. It depends on how many targets retain value while Dishonored.

There is nothing that says it will be Lion only. Keywords can cross Clans easily.

There's the Steadfast Samurai, Otomo Courtier and what appears to be a 1 cost 0/2 in the Showcase gallery. I think you'll usually be conceding the Ring but trying to save the province.

Well, it's always possible we could get some straightening effects that would let you use the personalities in a second conflict. I wouldn't expect these to be incredibly common, but even a couple could be useful.

Also, as Yogo Gohei pointed out, everyone you can Honor is one more honor you get when he leaves the table. If the Pride keyword is rather common, I could maybe see paying one extra Fate each just to keep the Honored folk around a turn to help Honor the next turn's characters, but I think in many cases it'll be used primarily for small Honor gains.

Even if you don't intend to put Fate on Pride characters, winning conflicts with them is a good way to gain extra Honor.

Have they stated that every single Lion character will have the Pride keyword?

Lion Pride Brawler, too, who excels at defending from Politicians by punishing their low Military and bowing them.

Yes, that's what I mean by "if he gets honored with 0 fate you're still putting that honor pressure on your opponent."

By "his Pride keyword won't make that much of a difference statistically", I mean I don't expect him to spend a lot of time as a 4/3 or 0/0.

She can only use the ability while attacking.

No. Should they have?

The first three Lions they gave us didn't have it, and only one Crane had Sincerity. I'm not expecting it on every card.

She attacks and bows a low-Military high-Politics character to keep them from attacking you.

Yup. The character she bows doesn't even have to be defending. Just in play.
