I like the theme here and with dueling - potential for failure.
Given how well he plays into the Lion plan under ideal circumstances it's fitting there's a risk to fail imo, since the Lion can take strides to greatly mitigate the downside (only play when you have first player token for instance, or a major advantage).
Your point is very valid though, worst case he's a 0/0 for 2 that refills himself.
However, dishonoring can be said to nullify many characters (but yes he has it built in).
