I like the theme here and with dueling - potential for failure.

Given how well he plays into the Lion plan under ideal circumstances it's fitting there's a risk to fail imo, since the Lion can take strides to greatly mitigate the downside (only play when you have first player token for instance, or a major advantage).

Your point is very valid though, worst case he's a 0/0 for 2 that refills himself.

However, dishonoring can be said to nullify many characters (but yes he has it built in).

I think it's entirely reasonable that Banzai is in every deck. The card is insane value. 4 Mil for 1 Honor is not trivial based on the character skill values we've seen. So while it is understandable to think that Conflict events might feel more like "Lion" events based on Old5R, Nu5R seems very much focused on every clan participating in Conflicts quite frequently which makes every Conflict card "live" for every Clan.

It's difficult to say what the bulk of the Lion Conflict cards will be like given how few spoilers we have, but what I gathered from the most recent FB video is that pairing Crane directly with Lion was wise because Lion has ways to bolster military presence from the Conflict deck with good splashable effects.

Yes, he has a built in conditional that may prove troublesome but many characters are going to be weak to dishonor tactics. Kaezin becomes a 1/0 for 3 when dishonored, does that make him garbage tier? Maybe, but I don't think so.

Gunsou may end up countered easily, that's a definite possibility but his potential makes him a target, and that's part of the package

I think we're going to be finding out that there really aren't "defensive" decks any more. All Clans will need to go on the offensive to claim the rings they need to help them win.

I don't think his trait makes him any more vulnerable to dishonor decks than any other character. His trait doesn't activate until after battle resolution so if he's dishonored before that losing is irrelevant and winning makes him neutral for free.

Overall I think hes decent for what he costs. Not as good as Lion's Pride Brawler, but better than Steadfast Samurai and Matsu Berserker.

I get that feeling too. Some may be better at defending (Crab or Phoenix) but just sitting at home would seem a mistake. Seeing Crane courtiers on the offensive is going to be a welcome sight.

About the Gunso, the chance of being dishonored is totally worth consider all the positives, including that powerful turning face a card. Lion is weenie deck. "We are legion."

Good point. Bring him in with no Fate, lose a conflict and he becomes dishonored, then discarded. There's no negative stat impact. Just losing 1 Honor, but decks can counter that well depending in their opponent. Maybe against Scorpion he's not as strong, since you don't want to give your opponent a free Dishonor.
