Kylo Ren is actually a Hero

By Crabbok, in X-Wing Off-Topic

The ultimate secret has been hiding in plain sight this whole time....

I couldn't sit through the whole thing, don't much lime internet videoes, would rather just have text to read, but I have thought for a while now that Kylo maybe isn't as much of a bad guy in the ST as TFA depicted.

Dude, he massacres a village. He's evil.

Hmmm... something to consider. We'll know more this December. Until then, he's still going to be one of the villains in my book.

No matter what happens in this or any other movie, he's clearly the villain in the movie. He may become a sympathetic villain, there may be some justification in what he's done. But he will always be a villain.

I explained that in the video.

Your explanation didnt convince. Maybe killing Lor San Tekka, but not ordering the death of an entire village. "What do we do with the villagers?" Could have been answered with "leave them, they are of no interest to me."

That would have been better, I agree. But sometimes you gotta snort a LOT of cocaine to convince the gang that your'e not a cop...

And he did ask forgiveness as well. I just can't watch The Force Awakens the same way anymore though - I mean I always thought he was being set up for a redemption arc in the next films - but now it seems like he's already begun that arc and we didn't even know.

Interesting...

I can see where you're coming from, Crabbok.

Maybe you're on to something...

But most likely everyone will just say you aren't a true TFA fan and you have no idea what you're talking about.

If Snoke killed Han, how come Kylo says, "Thank you"?

Maybe from a certain point of view ...

The video explains that he's not in control of himself at that point.

So basically, it's Snoke saying, "Thank you"? Ren's possessed?

See, I don't see that.

The entire scene where Han dies reminds me (rather strongly, actually) of the scene in Harry Potter when Snape kills Dumbledore. The whole set up, the way it's paced and executed, strikes me as the artist trying to convince the audience that one thing is going on when it's really the other way around and Han understood what was going on and was willingly sacrificing himself because it was somehow necessary that Kylo kill him.

I don't know if JJ has the skill to pull off a story like that, but that is what the scene reminds me of.
