Question about critical hits

By Genuine, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Looking for a citation here, if possible. I'm sorry to ask, but I think my reading/research skills have rolled a despair or two.

So... one crit per attack? Is that the real rule? Also, if two weapon fighting, can you potentially score two crits? Can autofire and absurd amounts of advantage score even more crits (assuming each activation is paid for normally). If you have an ability that allows multiple attacks (like the Bounty Hunter's signature ability), does that also allow multiple crits?

I understand that most of this won't be explicitly covered. Our table has been playing the 'one crit per attack' rule (and it appears common here on the boards) and I realized that I couldn't actually find the rule in the book.

I'm away from the books but it is one critical hit per attack. However, you can add +10 to the critical roll with multiple crits. Keep in mind that this only applies to Rivals and Nemeses as Minions are auto-killed with a Critical activation.

Well, multiple crits against the same target just add 10 to the roll, so the 92 showing on the dice turns into 102 if you landed two crits. If you had one of the talents or addons that you hit multiple targets, and you hit two separate targets, I would assume that each one gets one crit.

At least that's what I would do if I were GMing.

The Edge Core states that you can afflict one Critical Hit per hit on a target, so I would imagine the Spit Fire talent would allow a Critical hit to both targets provided the proper Advantage had been rolled.

Critical Injuries and Minions
Question asked by Braendig:
When hitting a minion group with enough advantages to activate a critical on a weapon twice, should the player choose to activate both critical effects (the initial critical and the second for +10 to the critical result), how many minions should be eliminated from the group?

Answered by Sam Stewart:
Since you can only inflict one critical per hit (the “second” that you mention is just enhancing the ability of the original critical, and is not actually a second critical hit in its own right), activating a critical multiple times on a weapon that only inflicts a single hit would not eliminate any additional minions from the group.

Multiple Critical Rolls with Autofire

Asked by 2P51:

Can you roll multiple critical hits with a single attack, if the attack lands multiple hits, ie, you get 3 hits on an auto fire attack and theoretically have enough advantages for 3 critical hit results.

Answered by Sam Stewart:

Criticals are generated on a "per hit" basis. So if you've got multiple hits, you can have multiple crits, just one per hit.

Thank you for the quick reply. This is exactly what I was looking for. And this is exactly why I couldn't find it. Anyone else bugged that there are rules about crits in at least 3 different places? (Weapon characteristics, spending advantage, and the actual, you know, critical hits entry).

So... one crit per hit. Which seems to imply that multiple hits (such as from two-weapon fighting) can allow multiple crits (if soak is activated for each hit, then critting for each hit makes sense to me).

[edit]Thanks too, Mr. Robot Pirate. Always nice to see a dev answer come to the same conclusion I had.

It is indeed one crit per hit, which means if you have multiple hits per attack, you could feasibly also have multiple crits per attack. Just remember that you need enough Advantage to be able to activate each individual crit as well as additional hits :)
