So I played a game tonight with Cobra Talonbane and I equipped him with the illicit cloaking device with the stygium particle accelerator upgrade and had a total blast and won two different games with it. I just want the communities opinion on that combo. Not necessarily with Cobra Talonbane but with any other scum ship that can equip the two cards.

Thoughts?

It is hard to justify it just because you have a 25% of blowing the device because you need to roll to keep it each end phase if cloaked . . . You can totally whiff it on the roll on the first round and be totally screwed. anyways, thanks in advance.

You summed it up pretty well yourself. Scum Cloaking is fun, but the fail rate isn't worth the risk, expecially in a faction with so many cheap works-every-time options.

Maybe with the upcoming Jabba crew it will be more reliable

An alternative is switching Talonbane for Fenn and everything else for Attani.

OP: That's cheaper than engine. If you are able to utilize his EPT to push enough damage through on the initial engagement, you'll be ahead on points. I suggest Fearlessness, Crack Shot, or A Score to Settle for those on a budget.

I'm not sure about that... you're paying 4pts that comes back to you in the form of a reposition and at least one Evade token. That's pretty much 4pts worth of value even if it never works again.

I think Stygium Cloaked Talonbane is a good shout... I also think Talonbane & Palob might be best example of its use, though. There's not many other things I'd stick it on.
