Custom Imperial Cards

By RufusDaMan, in X-Wing

These are homebrew cards I made, that in my opinion help out the Empire in a balanced way. I was looking to give them access to certain types of lists, while keeping it in check and flavourful.

Academy Instructor

The Empire has many ships which can carry crew, but they have far less desirable crew options than the other two factions.

Quote

Formation Flying

This is a sort of "Imperial Mindlink", except it can be countered with stress and requires some skill in flying.

Quote

Precision Lasers

An answer to the red dice creep, and an effort to make 2 attack ships more viable against token stacking. A-wings will love this.

Quote

Disrupting fire

Gives an affordable control option to the Imperials. The weapons disabled token is needed against Gunner and Double Edge shenanigans.

Quote

Inquisitor

Something to capitalize on that cheap control, while adding a bit of synergy to the Empire.

Quote

IHYN

Another stress based card, a conditional Expertise for half the cost.

Quote

Easy target

Another card for all factions. Solutions to Hull/Shields tanks in this game are lacking, while we have autodamage against tokenstacking and green dice tanks.

Quote

Precision bomb chutes

The rebels can keep the traitorous mandalorian wench, making things blow up harder is the easy way out anyway. We Imperials prefer to be accurate in our bomb game.

Quote

Bloodstripes

A shameless knockoff A-Wing Test Pilot. It replaces Royal Guard.

Quote

Escort

Quite basic really, useful, but cannot be exploited.

But Fel's Wrath is crying, his pilot skill is 5 and he didn't get Bloodstripes.

I would change it to say after you may cancel all dice results, "if you canceled any <hit> or <crit> results,". Otherwise you could in theory roll all blanks and apply this effect. I would also make this happen before the defender can roll defense dice.

Other than that, cool cards man.

The flavour is strong with Bloodstripes. Me gusta.

I agree that the flavour of the Bloodstripes card is spot on, but I think it would be better and more useful if it was PS 3 or lower. That way you could make a swarm of the PS 4 generics with 2 cheap EPTs.

Nice cards. Just to clarify (nitpick), for Formation Flying and Escort you say 'within' Range 1. Do you mean 'at' Range 1? Within Range 1 means that the friendly ship's entire base has to be inside the Range 1 band of your ship. My apologies if you knew this and used 'within' intentionally.

Wow!!! Excellent cards! All of them.

(I would remove the Inquisitor, but that must be more a problem of myself and the guy)

A fair point, you are quite right.

You are right, generic interceptors need some love too.

It is intentional, to limit the cards further, but it might be a bit too harsh. What do you think?

Why Thank you. I liked the guy, but I understand others might not have

For Formation Flying it makes sense, after all the whole point of formation flying is to stay close and there is no other cost involved. The Escort EPT is lot like HotAC's Protect Action which is 'at' Range 1 (if that matters). In this case, the escort ship is paying a price of using its action and since the receiver can only receive 1 token it wouldn't really hurt if you loosen up the range a bit.

I think you are right. I'll change Escort, and maybe Formation Flying as well.

"I Have You Now" feels a point undercosted to me. Or instead of changing all eyeballs to hits, limit it to up to two eyeballs turned to hits.

These are great by the way.

I'd actually really like to see something like precision lasers in the game.

I was reluctant to do that since against an unstressed target it doesn't do anything

Hmm... I hadn't considered that. I like it all the same.

A new batch of custom cards.

Experimental Solar Collectors

A card to represent one of the many new technologies the Empire is developing constantly. It is a unique upgrade, but at a moderate cost for what it does... which is a lot, but comes with a restriction. It makes PTL aces (or just the one) to have a whole realm of potential moves at the cost of K turns.

Plus I just love the art.

Twin Ion Engine Mk. III.

Also a mod, this one isn't unique. It adds more options (AND SPEED) to a few ships, but it is made for Interceptors who can take an additional mod (which is AT... let's be real). It makes it easier to keep up with large based ships and gives a greater range control.

Bloodthirst

An "evil" EPT. TIE/D-s love this, Rexler REALLY loves it. Both of them need a bit of love. Otherwise it makes you find the inner Whisper in everyone. It can be countered by stress, and cannot give double focus alone. No biggie.

No shields, All guts

The big one. It is strong, but limited. As of now, only the TIE/ln, TIE bomber, TIE Striker and TIE Interceptor can equip it, but makes them badasses until they are hit. Turns Pure Sabbac up to 11. It's saving grace that it only works until you are hit, although an interceptor with AT, Stealth Device and this can be hard to crack.

Saber Squadron Pilot too !

Formation Flying could be allowed to the Rebels too.

Precision Lasers are really excellents. Escort is awesome, but Biggs is a problem with it.

Very good job, Rufus.

@RufusDaMan, what happened to the images in the first post?

Hm... good question. The links disappeared. I'll try to look for the cards and reupload them.

Don't mean to be a pain @RufusDaMan, but will the images in the first post ever be fixed? I would like to test them out.

Hey, the files were lost, but I recreated most of them from memory and sketches I had from the time. Sorry I forgot about it last time.

Here is a link

And the cards themselves

HpGdAMs.jpgdgbTcrS.jpgQnkX81r.jpgBM0cddr.jpgBPEUglr.jpg99q15cj.jpgel160Kg.jpg

I don't quite recall the exact functions of Academy Instructor, Bomb chutes and Disrupting fire. Bomb chutes used the Speed 2 maneuvers to place bombs I think, and Disrupting fire did something stress related.

Sorry again, for forgetting.

Just remembered. Formation Flying is supposed to be: "Free focus action", but I can't be assed to change it right now
