Path to Carcosa now "At the Printer"

By Caldias, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Yay! Excited for the new investigators.

This means we'll probably see it in August or maybe September. Generally takes a little over three months from announcement to in stores for these things.

  • Dunwich Legacy Mythos Pack #5 - Where Doom Awaits - JUNE
  • Dunwich Legacy Mythos Pack #6 - Lost in Time and Space - JULY
  • Path to Carcosa - Deluxe Expansion - AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
  • Path to Carcosa - Mythos Pack #1 - SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
  • et cetera

Yeah, I am hoping we will see it in August, but more likely we will see it in Sept with an early release at Gencon. FFG likes to do that for the hype.

Maybe a standalone to tide us over !)

There will be a new scenario for GenCon: The Labyrinths of Lunacy. It will be playable by up to 12 players (probably in 3 teams like LotR's Siege of Annúminas).

Now its on the boat.

The cynic says that it won't be released until Gencon.

The dreamer says it will be released in early August.

The rationalist says that this on the boat date matches the boat dates of all the other items that have been released 6 weeks later.

The part of me that is scared of a broken heart says Gencon.

I guess we will find out on July 20th.

What?! Currently, that's more investigators than we have released. Even with the promo, Marie Lambeau.

I can't figure out if that's exciting or not. How does Siege of Annúminas play out? The first round of an Arkham game would be fine, but the second round forward could each take an hour.

I can't speak to the LotR events but If I'm remembering correctly this one is a 4 hour event. Other than the name and the 12 player part I don't think we know much else.

I don't know who else got in but I'll be in the Sunday 9am slot.

Siege of Anuminas broke the 12 players into 3 4-player game areas which would interact at specific points in the scenario, but were otherwise independent. That meant that uniqueness only applied within the 4-player scope of your own game. The interaction points were typically at the end of rounds, so each game would play pretty independently until you got to the end of a round, and then everything would move between the different games.

I suspect we'll see much the same from Labyrinth.

Ah, well... if Carcosa was broadly available by then... this would give everyone enough different Investigators for a 12 player game...

I wouldn't be surprised either way if it's available for sale at GenConor not.

Given Lost in Time and Space is announced for early July, Carcosa might even be available before GenCon.

There's typically a gap of at least a few months between the completion of one cycle and the deluxe for the next. I'd be shocked if they released Carcosa before GenCon - more likely it'll be available at GenCon, and generally available in September or so.

Typical for LotR, I assume. Deluxes for AGoT2 come out about every 4 packs without a break beyond the normal month between products.

Time and Space is listed as Shipping, with a posted US release of 07.06.17.

Fair enough, but I think LOTR is a closer parallel :) We did have about two months between the core and Dunwich Legacy, too.

It would definitely be nice if there's no real break, but even if it sticks to the monthly cycle, that would put the release date a week before GenCon - I REALLY doubt that's going to happen. We might see general release the week of GenCon, but I have a very hard time seeing them drop it that close but not at the con.

Curse and Carnevale were published between the Core and Dunwich. Also, they already have a GenCon-specific product: Labyrinths of Lunacy, the standalone scenario that can be played with up to 12 players.

Cardhaus had a listed release date of September 30th.

That sounds like a placeholder date until they have better info. I doubt if it'll be 3 months between LiTS and Carcosa.

Sounds about right to me. I'd love it if it was sooner, but July release of last mythos pack, probable early release at gen con, official release the end of the next month.

If they're able to stick to a monthly schedule for the packs I don't see why they'd break it for the box set.

Just preordered Carcosa and the first mythos pack on Miniature Market

But if they are following their LotR game-plan, you can't purchase that POD quest at Gencon. You only get it if you play in the event. They haven't had any of the LotR POD for sale at the con that it was also the special event. They are released much later. So I'm in the camp that thinks Carcosa will be early released at GenCon and official release later.

Anyone remember the time frame between Curse and its release? That was the Arkham Nights scenario and that came out pretty quickly as I recall...

It did come out very quickly after, but I think that was more due to the fact there was only the core set scenarios at that point. They probably made an extra effort to get it out so that there was more content to keep people interested. Now we have 12 scenarios available (13 in two weeks' time!), there's less of a pressing need for more content. Other than our obvious impatience, at least! ?
