First Aid During Combat

By Carahue, in WFRP Rules Questions

According to the rules a PC can spend a manoeuvre to use a skill. Does this mean that the PC on his turn, can use the First Aid skill to tend to an injured ally, and still make an attack?

Also, if First Aid is used during the Rally phase, in between 2 waves of a battle, does it gain any benefit from the combat surgery specialisation?

You can use First Aid in combat, but not Medicine, it's all listed in p. 64-65 of the rulebook.

I wouldn't give any bonuses for First Aid during a Rally Step, as it's shorter than a regular round (only one maneuver and no actions).

Here's a related question.

Can you use the Splints and Bandages action AND first aid on damage from a single encounter, or only 1 of the two since they're both basically the same thing (though the Splints and Bandages is waaaay better).

Thanks for info!

A few comments:

1. Remember that the player needs some Medical Supplies (Bandages etc.) to do more than say some comforting words. These supplies will probably be in her backpack, so to get them costs another manoeuvre.

2. The use of skills as manoeuvres is a bit weird. Think about how many Charm checks you can make in addition to play an Action Card during a Social Encounter. As a default it will probably be best to rule that a character can only make one skill manoeuvre per round and this will be at the expense of playing a Action Card.

The guidelines in the rulebook could definitely be more specific on this!

Based on the text on page 65 in the rulebook "Each character can only benefit from one successful First Aid check per act...", I will rule that you can only use one of them since they are both First Aid checks.
