X-Wing Squadron Builder and Ordnance Tubes

By Vellcrow, in X-Wing

I use the "unofficial" X-Wing Squadron Builder but I'm having a problem.

http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build

When I equip Ordnance Tubes and then try to select any missile/torpedo for my Hardpoint, the program will not allow me to print the squad (I get the Jar Jar screen of death) and if I save a squad with OT and a missile/torpedo, it later claims the file is corrupted and it will not load the complete squad.

Does anyone else have this issue?

If you print to document writer it'll force it... but all your missile hardpoints become quad lasers. Yeah, bit of a bug. After it's in doc writer, I convert to PDF and text box over the Quads with the correct ordnance.

I don't get far enough to choose the document writer. I click on the program's blue "Printable" button and it goes to the Jar Jar error screen.

I did have it blow up a few times as well in the past... Which web browser are you using? Internet Explorer 11 worked for me last time with the results I posted.

I have used IE 10, IE 11, Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge with all the same results.

Weird... I just tried it again with IE 11.

  • I put ordnance tubes on the fore section of the CR90, and put one homing missile in the hardpoint next to it.
  • I hit the Printable button - got a pop up notification - since I'm at work I closed it and denied it... (I know it's harmless - but it's something I do here and it works)
  • I hit the Printable button again, because the pop up was denied. This time a new window appears with my printable screen... with Quad lasers instead of the homing missile.

I got nothing for you, clearly the bug is pretty big. I don't think YASB offers capital ships yet...

I guess I need to clarify:

If I select some missiles/torpedoes, like you did with Homing Missiles, it will give a printable page with the misprint you got. However, with something like Cluster Missiles or Proton Torpedoes, it goes to the broken page.

I have emailed Voidstate about this, I just wanted to know if I was the only one getting the errors. Thanks for checking!

That would explain it then... yeah. I don't normally use different missiles... Hopefully Voidstate gets to it. The bug is rather frustrating, particularly since it's the only squad builder seemingly built to handle epic.

Which I use but not good for printing

Yeah squadron builder is optimized for 100 point competitive standard. Thus formats such as Epic (an my format Allies & Mercenaries) have to be built often the old fashion way. Pen(cil), paper and a calculator when you break from the competitive standard.

Maybe Squad Builder could have done something like what they did with Heavy Scyk title. Pick one of 3 slots <missile> <torpedo> <hardpoint> for each hardpoint.
