True, but I am more concerned that you just sent everyone home, and now they are waiting for you, angry, ready to murder you.

They might just fade away at the end of turn, grumbling, having done nothing of note.

Fair enough.

Considering that Ancestral is just bringing the general rules for attachments from Game of Thrones over to Rokugan, I wouldn't be surprised if it's largely just for clans with a heavy attachment theme (so far, just Dragon, as we've been told). Tough to get your deck theme to work when your attachments vanish every other turn.

I can understand that, it doesn't bother me that Crane doesn't, or that it isn't a "each clan has one" type deal. I guess I'd like each clan to have something, just probably for theme's sake, considering how ancestors and ancestor worship is apart of the setting. Though for the life of me, I couldn't tell you what a good ancestral item for the Crane would be.

Pondering deck strategies, I wonder if one could use Crane's easy access to honor in order to draw a bunch of cards while remaining honor "neutral?" Basically play a political attack deck and use your honor gains to drive a draw engine.

A fan.

Have all Crane Clan cards been spoiled now or are there still some mysteries yet to be revealed?

As per game design or thematically in the world?

Game design would be easier to think of. Our only example is the daisho from Dragon, which is just a Fine Katana that you can keep around for boosting your next character. So it would be something thematically useful for Crane, yet not overpoweringly so. Consider that the Daisho/Katana only give +2M, while the Fashion gives +4P. Returning a Fashion-esque card would seem to be a bit much, then, so we're looking at something that gives equivalent to a +2 stat boost for a 1 Fate investment.

By the spreadsheet I'm keeping I believe all but 1 crane card has been spoiled. With the possibility of 1 other depending how the numbers line up

Sincerity as Keyword? Can I now suspect to see all the other bushido virtues as well as keywords?

Was thinking of something that could actually last a few generations.

Fancy fans are actually gifts that are given. Properly cared for, they can last as long as any other woodworked item.

...Unicorn should understand how good fans can be at that.

The Unicorn had Lady Doji's sandalwood fan for 800 years.

Probably have to wait for the deluxe clan expansion for Kuwannan, Toshimoko, Yoshi, Shizue, and (Fumio!).

Good point. I forgot about the fading system, and that makes buying yourself a turn worthwhile.

You just mean Fumio. I think that is all we care about.

Even if they can attack/defend again it will be unlikely that it will be a conflict type they are inherently good at.

Additionally if you are focusing on an honor victory, the type of deck defensive Crane usually shines at, denying on of the two conflicts they have access to already seens good enough. I think he will be played in that that strategy primarily and that more aggressive decks might not run him.

By the way, I just noticed his ability works in political conflicts (which is really flavor appropriate), so maybe, rather than Lion, he will be good against Scorpion or in the mirror.

I don't really understand Doji Hoaru's flavor text. What exactly does it mean by 'rule of ko'?

Or possible a reference to "Samurai-ko" being female samurai.

It's a rule from go which breaks stalemates.

No, it's definitely a reference to go, given the nature of her quote.

Yeah, I was just lazy and hadn't learned to read yet.

Thank you, both of you. That makes a lot of sense. For a minute, I was fearing it WAS a reference to samurai-ko, and Hotaru was going to be a 'girl power' character.

I actually need to update my previous statement. There was a scout I wasn't aware of. I believe all Crane cards have been spoiled in one form or another. Two of these cards (a 3 cost and 2 cost character) show up on the example play area on the showcase page. I am unable to read anything on these two cards. There is also the possibility that card 39 is a crane card but this is most likely a crab card. There is also the possibility that 137-138 are crane cards but I believe these to also be crab cards. Finally 149 could be a crane card, but I feel this will be a dragon card.

My favorite card shown today was The Art of Peace, the Crane province. Doubt it will be enough to run Crane right out of the gate, but a very cool article none less.
