One thing that just popped into my head: there were no Crane Clan cards that referenced additional uses of the Imperial Favor. That was always kind of a thing for them. Makes me wonder if the Scorpion are now the ones that really have the "Emperor's ear" or if they have something else in store for us. Right now the favor is pretty underwhelming.

I am really thinking of the 5 personality cards being like Winds.

I'm wondering, just seems like that would have been something that would have been spoiled by now... ?

With my limited gaming experience in L5R I would have to say that I'm fully supportive of this.

What im trying to suggest here is that the coming game, re-tweaked by FFG, would blossom even more if this current version decides to venture into different realms of possibilities in regards to adding not only 'strengths and weaknesses' to the major 7 Clans but also adding more "flavor" through the actual gaming mechanics fir each Clan. By allowing specific Clans (Scorpion for example) to have more presence within the actual gameplay, such as having greater influence with the Imperial Favor, would only add more cause to gaming with a specific Clan.

Maybe even leading to something like the Crane clan coup this time around...

Unless they want to keep those personalities a secret for now. In any case, it is nothing more than speculation. While I expect dinasty and conflict cards using the favor, in Core or later, Wind like cards could be a neat thing.

Also, although the Coup makes for good fiction, I don't want it to result in "clan y" is exiled from the Empire again.

However, if in this continuity- this early in the time line- a young man (or even woman) from Moto lands, took the title of Khan, and decided to launch a coup and succeeded at taking the Throne, I could get behind that!

We cannot know if there will be a coup. And if certain Chagatai (was he born by this time?) decided to take the Burning Sands Moto Clan title of Khan, he would need to start with a coup in the Unicorn Clan, which would lead to:

I, for one, welcome an assault upon Rokygan by untainted Moto...

I am totally amazed by the accomplishments of the real historical figure Genghis Khan. I of course had heard of him way back in grade school but I only recently began to study him on a deeper level and never truly knew what an influential figure he was. Rokugan totally needs an individual based on him and his descendants, whether they be hero, villain, or somewhere in between, some body who can shake things up. If you have the time to look into Genghis Khan, he'll get your blood pumping for some purple pony deck action!

Why Chagatai instead of Moto Gaharis? I played LBS for a while and Moto was my faction. I can't look at a Moto Gaharis card without thinking Gaharis Khan.

Shinjo is Kami of compassion, not warlords in conquest mode. While I am not against non tainted invaders or FFG using the Unicorn as villain of the cycle, I was never fan of Chagatai turning my clan into a Shining Horde in the ccg.

I would love to defend the honor of my clan by opposing such barbarian.

I actually really like the Crane, I'm just hoping that whatever big events are coming are done differently this time around. If a coup must be done, cool, but give it to a different clan and spice it up a little bit.

Dunno about that If this Shoju looks like the other Shoju a little living dead would be an improvement.

Ooooh, that could be good!

But I think it is HIGHLY unlikely. The Crane (and Hotaru, specifically) seems positioned to be heroic protagonists, at least for the arc.
