I have a question about non-uniques. I know the EPT is assigned to them permanently. If they are killed in battle and replaced in the hangar, do they lose their initial EPT?

I don't think so...if the highest generic has an EPT, but I'll let @Babaganoosh answer that.

They revert to the original EPT, if any

If they don't have one? Do they end up with none?

Yes- they would 'lose' the EPT. It's a brand-new pilot, thematically.

OK, 'nother question.

For Distress Signal, the Rebels "deploy within range 1 of any [ONE] table edge", or can they spread along multiple table edges?

The Rebel player may deploy their ships within range 1 of any table edge.

They can spread out. That is, unless @Babaganoosh corrects me.

Cool. You might clarify that sentence, because some people might think the "one" is implied because of typical set up rules.

2) Page 3 - Squadron Rosters - Elite Pilot Talents: 2nd Paragraph
If you draft a unique pilot... ...you may also assign a new EPT to that pilot. Any legal EPT may be selected.
Question: Does the EPT need to be budgeted for in the 250 squad points? Or is this EPT effectively free?

2) Yes. Yes, it does.

I'm repeating this one to be absolutely sure I understand it, I worded the question poorly - it's a bigger deal with Rebels, which is why I'm paying particular attention to it to be sure I understand the rules.

When I'm creating my roster, and my draft list, I spend points in my original roster for an ept that's not equipped to a fighter that remains in the pool in case I manage to draft that pilot.

Scenario: I have a Rookie X-Wing and Expose (no, this is not my plan) costing me 21 + 4 points of my 250 point roster. I manage to draft Wedge and can then put my available EPT, Expose, on him since it's in my pool and not assigned to another fighter since EPTs cannot move.

You get to put a brand-new EPT on a drafted unique pilot. It does not need to be in your roster in any way. We'll have a supply of EPTs for general use, but it would be best if people bring their EPT decks to supply their own EPTs as neccesary

Jim is right. Also that rule is on the list for clarification

Speaking of clarification, I'll assume that's Jim (Heychadwick) and not Jim (Darth Meanie). ;)

Ok. But I need to save points in my roster for it.

nope! After the initial preparation of the roster, points don't really matter anymore (for example you also don't need to save points for drafted unique pilots).

So a roster should have:

Generics with non-movable EPTs

Movable Upgrades for any/all ships

Movable ordnance for any/all ships

and you don't need points for Uniques +/- the EPT.

Right?

That sounds about right. The only non-transferable upgrades are EPTs.

You don't need to make any special provisions for cards/pilots that you will draft- you just need to have generics that are eligible to be upgraded into uniques (generally ships of the same type as the unique pilot.)

We will be providing the cardboard inserts, the pilot cards, and the upgrade cards for uniques, and they replace whatever thing that you upgraded into the drafted unique in your roster (regardless of point costs).

What about a Unique that has various upgrades. Let's say you get a unique that can take a System slot, a Crew, an EPT, and a Modification. We know you can then give that person a non-xferrable EPT. What about the other stuff? Do you get non-transferrable kit for the unique? Just curious.

Also, I'm really curious to see what the Rebel players take for uniques. Astromechs uniques won't be able to have something upgraded to them later in the game. So, if you don't grab a unique astromech in the beginning, you won't get one ever. Same for some of the special crew, too.

Hmm; in most situations you should have upgrades on hand from what you were equipping to the generic pilots - both have the same upgrade bars.

The edge cases that might be a problem are some of the unique pilots that you can upgrade into that fly different ships. The ARC-170s, captured TIEs, and IG-88s, and attack shuttles. It'd be easier to just not make any special provision for them, but that also might kinda suck. (Also I just realized that we'll need to make sure we have those models on-hand for people to use)

I'm also thinking of things like the Virago title. It gives you extra upgrades. I'm sure there are more that do the same thing.

Personally, I think people should be required to bring them as they are the ones that they are putting on their Draft list, right? It's not like they are suddenly surprised to find they have someone and didn't take the upgrade they wanted. Even then, I'm sure that someone could probably borrow one of mine if it came to it. This type of a thing is pretty rare and I could do something like that for the very rare chance, but not give away my collection at GenCon for people to borrow.

Well, Biff and I are going to be bringing stuff to lend out as necessary as people draft uniques. I think we'll be marking them to keep them separate from player's cards and cardboard. If we required people to bring everything they might need, that would probably be a lot of stuff and I don't want to rely much on that.

We can also proxy stuff as necessary.

This is a good catch. My initial thought - we should provide everything to draft and equip the uniques that would not be sourced from the generic it is replacing.

I can make my inventory available for loan - unique ship models & cardboard as well as my upgrade card stash. I'm thinking of some stupid card sleeves to "mark" my stuff.

We ought to check our inventory to be sure we have enough of the ship types that are sourced to a different generic ship. That might be a challenge.

Print outs for cards. Less to lose.

You could get some Sailor Moon card sleeves or something. I don't think anyone else has those to avoid confusion. :)

As a side note, I think we might have a really cool prize idea for the winning side: little "pew pew" buttons! I'm looking into it.

I was hoping for Space Ace... ;)

Only 11 tickets left. Get 'em while they are still available!

Ooh! Oooh! Ooh!

Can I take an epic cruiser?
